Student answer (Band 6.5)
Supermarkets are now become more diverse and offer a wide range of products. It is often argued that finding almost everything produced by different countries of the world is extremely beneficial, while others argue about environmental concerns. I strongly believe it is a positive development and this essay will explain why.
Firstly, in this fast-paced life it is possible to have things produced globally under a roof. People are really keen into these facilities, though they do not need to go abroad to get the products of their interests. For example, it is far more convenient to get international brand's products from a supermarket especially when it requires enough time and money to import every single thing you want. The import of bulk products is the most effective approach rather than ordering it personally, and finding them conveniently on the supermarkets.
Another advantage is that import and export drive good relations between countries. For instance, if one country exports wheat and rice to other, it will generate revenue in exchange, which not only makes them economically strong but also build friendly relations with supporting country. Let's take another example of a person who moved abroad can easily get the products of his country by visiting a large supermarket.
Turning to the other side, transportation could lead to environmental damage like vehicle emissions and oil spills into sea. But these damages can be reduced significantly by introducing strict environmental and eco-friendly laws.
In conclusion, although we can encounter several drawbacks including environmental concerns, the availability of bundle of worldwide products under a roof is not less than a blessing. I agree its advantages outweigh its disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding convenience and economic relations are relevant, though the development of these points is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation of economic relations between countries is a bit simplistic. The counter-argument regarding environmental impact is acknowledged, but the rebuttal is brief. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more detailed examples or deeper analysis of the implications of global food trade. Overall, the position is consistent, and the main ideas are clearly presented, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.5 or 7.0 level of development.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, such as convenience or economic benefits. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Another advantage', and 'In conclusion', which help the flow of ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as in the sentence '...build friendly relations with supporting country', where an article is missing. The progression of ideas is generally clear, though the link between the paragraph on economic relations and the personal example provided within it could be smoother.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fast-paced', 'diverse', and 'environmental concerns'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and collocation errors, such as 'keen into these facilities' (should be 'keen on') and 'bundle of worldwide products' (should be 'a wide variety of'). While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Expanding your use of collocations and more academic synonyms would significantly improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'Supermarkets are now become' (should be 'have become'), 'international brand's products' (should be 'international brands' products'), and 'the supermarkets' (should be 'in supermarkets'). Additionally, there are minor issues with article usage and preposition choice. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct article usage will help improve your accuracy.
