In many countries nowadays, consumers can go to a supermarket and buy food produced all over the world.

Student answer (Band 6.5)
Supermarkets have become more diverse and offer a wide range of products. It is often argued that finding almost everything produced by different countries of the world is extremely beneficial, while others argue about environmental concerns. I strongly believe it is a positive development and this essay will explain why.
Firstly, in this fast-paced life it is possible to have things produced globally under a roof. People are really keen on these facilities, though they do not need to go abroad to get the products of their interests. For example, it is far more convenient to get international brands' products from a supermarket especially when it requires enough time and money to import every single thing you want. The import of bulk products is the most effective approach rather than ordering it personally, and finding them conveniently on the supermarkets.
Another advantage is that import and export drive good relations between countries. For instance, if one country exports wheat and rice to another, it will generate revenue in exchange, which not only makes them economically strong but also build friendly relations with supporting country. Let's take another example of a person who moved abroad can easily get the products of his country by visiting a large supermarket.
Turning to the other side, transportation could lead to environmental damage like vehicle emissions and oil spills into the sea. But these damages can be reduced significantly by introducing strict environmental and eco-friendly laws.
In conclusion, although we can encounter several drawbacks including environmental concerns, the availability of a bundle of worldwide products under a roof is not less than a blessing. I agree its advantages outweigh its disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as the convenience of global products and the economic benefits of trade. However, the development is somewhat uneven. For instance, the point about individuals moving abroad and finding products from their home country is a bit tangential and could have been better integrated into the broader economic argument. While the environmental counter-argument is acknowledged, it is addressed rather briefly. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more depth to your supporting examples rather than listing multiple distinct points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Another advantage', and 'Turning to the other side', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing within sentences could be smoother. For example, the phrase 'the supporting country' in the second body paragraph is slightly ambiguous. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and paragraphing is used effectively to separate the different stages of your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fast-paced', 'convenient', 'revenue', and 'environmental damage'. There are some instances of slightly unnatural collocations, such as 'a bundle of worldwide products' or 'under a roof', which would be better expressed as 'a wide variety of global products' or 'under one roof'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Expanding your use of topic-specific collocations would significantly improve your score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are recurring grammatical slips. For example, 'finding them conveniently on the supermarkets' should be 'in supermarkets', and 'a person who moved abroad can easily get' would be more accurate as 'a person who has moved abroad can easily get'. There are also minor issues with article usage and preposition choice. The majority of your sentences are error-free, but the frequency of these small errors prevents the writing from reaching the level of 'frequent error-free sentences' required for a Band 7.
