Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this modern era, globalization has created us to do shopping anywhere in the world. Consumers can go to the shopping malls and buy anything that was produced anywhere around the world easily. In my opinion, this is the positive development, as it will create the trade relation between the countries, and also, people tend to enjoy the food that is produced in other countries, which is not available in their country.

To commence with, the trade between the countries and continents has enhanced the trade relations of nations, which also ultimately boosts up the economy of nationals. To compound, by trading with countries for food, nationals grow their capital and increase the national economy. To cite an example, India has a proper relation with Nepal for different kinds of food to Nepal, which makes the capital of India rise. Hence, the aforementioned example vividly justifies the positive development that is onwards by buying the food from the supermarket.

Another reason that solidifies my view is that people can have the luxury of foods that are not produced in their own country. People can go to the supermarket and can easily buy the food that is produced in any other country and serve it at their own table. For instance, the UAE is exporting dates to all over the world, as they are very specifically produced in this country only, which makes people enjoy this kind of food due to the ease of the globalized market. Hence, the above-mentioned view can justify the positive development that is created by the food that can be bought anywhere in the world.

To recapitulate, the national boost not only boosts their economies by exporting to various countries and continents but also the trade relations among them. Furthermore, the food produced from one country can be easily served to various countries which makes the people enjoy different varieties of products in their dish.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the global availability of food is a positive development. The ideas are relevant, focusing on economic benefits and consumer choice. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding economic growth is stated multiple times without significant expansion. The example regarding India and Nepal is vague and lacks specific detail to fully support the claim. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced explanations and more concrete, well-explained examples that directly link to the global nature of the food trade.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'To compound', and 'To recapitulate' to link your points. However, some of these transitions feel mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'To compound', which is not standard academic usage. Additionally, some referencing is repetitive, particularly the concluding sentences of each paragraph, which restate the prompt's premise rather than synthesizing the argument. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring each paragraph builds upon the last would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'globalization', 'national economy', and 'varieties of products'. However, there are instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'created us to do shopping' (should be 'enabled us to shop') and 'boosts up the economy of nationals' (should be 'boosts national economies'). Some phrasing is also repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'positive development' and 'produced in other countries'. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise academic collocations would help you move into a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical inaccuracies. For example, 'globalization has created us to do shopping' is grammatically incorrect, and 'the trade relation between the countries' should be 'trade relations between countries'. There are also issues with article usage and prepositional phrases, such as 'to Nepal' in the second paragraph. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and more accurate sentence construction will improve your accuracy.
