Student answer (Band 5.5)

At present, the world has become a global village.

The things that are not widely available in past, in modern times is easily available at every marketplace and customers can purchase them effortlessly. In my opinion, it's a totally positive development.

Firstly, there is an era of technology, everything is available on internet and individuals can copy that food or recipe from internet and sell them to customers to earn money. For instance, Pakistan is known as the biggest exporter of mangoes, other countries import the mangoes from Pakistan and sell to their customers and earn the profit.

Secondly, some regions start to make their own foods which is not originally make in their nations. They uses various techniques and recipes to make the desire foods and make them available in their local markets for the people, so they don't go internationally to taste the food. For example, Italian pizza is the traditional food of Italy, but it is now widely available all over the world, because there recipe is available on internet.

In contrast, it has also some negative consequences, as the traditions of some country will effect, as their food is easily available in every corner of the world and don't have the same taste, so they lessen their reputation also.

In conclusion, according to my point of view, it's a positive development as people taste their own country food easily in other country, if they for some work or study, however, it makes the negative impact on some cultures also, because this will against there traditional values and has negative impact on them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a position, but the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you mention that global food availability is positive, the supporting arguments—such as the claim that people copy recipes from the internet to sell food—are somewhat tangential to the core issue of global trade and consumer choice. The counter-argument regarding cultural reputation is mentioned but lacks depth. To improve, ensure your examples directly support your main position and provide more detailed explanations for your claims. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and slightly contradictory, which weakens the overall clarity of your stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'In contrast' is used to introduce a negative point, but the connection between the paragraphs is sometimes weak. There are also issues with referencing; for instance, in the second paragraph, 'they' is used ambiguously. The flow between sentences is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing, which makes the progression of ideas feel somewhat disjointed. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring clear pronoun references would improve the logical flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is often repetitive and lacks precision. You frequently use basic terms like 'make' or 'food' where more specific vocabulary would be appropriate (e.g., 'produce', 'cuisine', 'gastronomy'). There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'traditions of some country will effect' (should be 'affect') and 'make the desire foods' (should be 'desired'). To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in the correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('some regions start to make... which is not originally make'), tense inconsistencies ('are not widely available in past'), and article usage. Punctuation is generally functional, but some sentences are run-on or lack necessary commas. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be highly beneficial.
