Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, supermarkets have became an international market which created a problem between locals: some consider it positive for development while the others point that it's bad for the local economy.
To begin with, we should point that having worldwide products in supermarkets and in malls in super efficient for companies since it will attract various customers from all around the world not only its locals and that will help them to develop their production and quality. As an example for that, italy which is known for its great pasta quality can extend its market to provide for the whole world helping its economy and giving the world better food choices. Added to that, providing food produced all over the world will make companies eventually work on their quality of food to stand out in the competition. So this will result in better quality overall and is beneficial for the customers as well as the companies themselves.
However, I also think that the international market will lead the weak and local companies that are growing to be burried under its competitors, leading to them loosing customers and eventually closing their marks. We have various examples of many companies that closed because their products were not as good as their international food alternatives such as chocolate brands. So, having food produced all over the world available in every supermarket will break the local economy and many local companies since at the end of the day each government should support and stand out for its national product.
To conclude with, even if the international level is good for customers choices, we should moderate the availability of international food to prevent our economy from falling

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed both sides of the argument, discussing the benefits for companies and consumers alongside the potential negative impact on local economies. Your position is clear throughout the essay. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the example of 'chocolate brands' is vague and lacks specific detail to fully support your point about local businesses closing. To reach a higher band, ensure that your examples are more concrete and that you fully explore the implications of your arguments rather than just stating them. Overall, you have fulfilled the requirements of the prompt effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'To begin with', 'However', and 'To conclude with', which help guide the reader through your argument. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel a bit repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the connection between ideas could be smoother. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'international market', 'competition', and 'moderate the availability'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'super efficient' (should be 'highly efficient'), 'burried under' (should be 'buried'), and 'closing their marks' (likely meant 'closing their doors' or 'markets'). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more sophisticated vocabulary to express your ideas with greater nuance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. However, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'supermarkets have became' (should be 'have become'), 'point that it's bad' (should be 'point out that'), and 'italy which is known' (needs capitalization). Additionally, there are some punctuation issues, such as missing spaces after commas and periods. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency of your writing. Focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent proofreading.
