Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the availability of global food products in supermarkets. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention both sides of the argument, the points are often under-developed or lack clarity, such as the vague reference to 'fact and figures' in the conclusion. The position is stated, but the reasoning lacks depth and specific examples to support the arguments effectively. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single clear idea supported by a logical explanation or a concrete example, rather than listing multiple points briefly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'subsequently' and 'however' at the start of sentences where they do not logically fit. The progression of ideas is sometimes difficult to follow due to these awkward transitions and grammatical errors. Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it hard to track the flow of the argument. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help create a smoother, more logical flow between your ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and there are frequent spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'debat', 'rised', 'incresed', 'exprots', 'inports', 'furit', 'colimia', and 'affortable'. These errors, combined with word choice issues like 'totaly wrong' and 'giving good quality things', indicate a restricted range of vocabulary. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of precision and the high frequency of spelling mistakes prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on learning the correct spelling of common academic terms and using more precise collocations would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are often marred by grammatical errors. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people argues', 'supermarket have'), article usage, and sentence fragments. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. The high frequency of errors often requires the reader to re-read sentences to grasp the intended meaning. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subjects and verbs agree, and practicing the correct use of articles and prepositions.
