Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, supermaret gives consumers a variety of food products from all over the world. While this development has some disadvantages, I believe that this has positive development. The reason is that it offers a great varity of choices and one can explore different cultures through food.
The advantage of it is that people can enjoy food from foreign countries. They will have a wide range of products to choose from. For instance, they can buy Italian pasta or Korean noodles while living in their country. Moreover Those who love Japanese sushi or Mexican food get get to know more about their cultures. This will inhance their knowledge and get to know about the flavours of different countries. This helps farmers, manufactures and retailers help in their business. And our economy grows as well.
Another thing about it is that, in the past people depended mostly on the local products and had few access to international products. But now, international trade has made it possible for consumers to have a huge range of products.
On the contrary, this development has some drawbacks as well. Due to imports people are attracted to those products more that harms the local manufactor that is selling its product.
In conclusion, consumers buying products from supermarets from all around the world has positive development and people can explore different cultures through food.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the availability of global food products and taking a clear position. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. While the main ideas—cultural exploration and economic benefits—are relevant, they are not fully extended. The conclusion is brief and repetitive. To improve, you should expand on your examples and provide more detailed explanations for your arguments to meet the length requirement and demonstrate a more thorough exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. For example, the transition between the benefits and the drawbacks is abrupt. Some sentences lack logical flow, such as the sudden mention of farmers and manufacturers without a clear link to the previous point about cultural knowledge. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'on the other hand') would help create a smoother progression of ideas throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several spelling errors, such as 'supermaret' (supermarket), 'varity' (variety), 'manufactures' (manufacturers), and 'inhance' (enhance). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise vocabulary related to international trade and cultural exchange, and ensure you proofread for basic spelling mistakes. Using synonyms instead of repeating 'products' and 'development' would also improve the quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'supermaret gives' (article missing), 'has positive development' (missing an article), 'few access' (incorrect quantifier), and 'get get' (repetition). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles will significantly improve your accuracy.
