Student answer (Band 5.0)

In many countries nowadays, consumers can go to a supermarket and buy food produced all over the world. I agree that it is a positive development in my opinion. consumers can directly know the origin of foods they are buying. they can check the quality of food they consume and can prevent from health hazards. consumers can compare different brands of foods and buy accordingly. this ensures consumers can know the cost , quality about the foods they consume. if consumers do not go to supermarket directly they may not have the knowledge about the foods they eat in their daily life.

From my real time experience i observed two friends of my dad who choose different mode of buying foods. one directly buy food from the supermarket and other chooses online platform. the one who chooses to go to supermarket gets fresh fruits and vegetables and he would pack in his own cloth bags which are eco friendly where the one who bought food in online were not fresh to see and food is packed in plastic covers which are harmful. The one who consumes food freshly is very good in his health. he is very energitic and fit where the other one health is detiorating day by day . his resistance is dead weak and he easily gets sick.

hence i think consumers can go to supermarket and buy food all over the world by themselves . this signifies a positive development all over the world and ensures healthy nation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the availability of global food in supermarkets is a positive development. However, the development of ideas is limited. The argument focuses heavily on the personal anecdote of two friends rather than exploring broader societal or economic implications of global food trade. The points made about food quality and health are repetitive, and the link between 'global food' and 'supermarket shopping' is somewhat conflated, as the prompt asks about the availability of global food, not necessarily the superiority of physical supermarkets over online shopping. To improve, you should broaden your scope to include factors like cultural exchange, economic impact, or environmental concerns.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into three paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link sentences and ideas logically. For example, the transition between the general argument and the personal anecdote is abrupt. Many sentences start with 'consumers' or 'the one who', leading to a repetitive and mechanical flow. Paragraphing is present, but the progression of ideas within the paragraphs is disjointed. You need to use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') to guide the reader through your argument more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, often relying on simple phrasing such as 'buy food', 'good in his health', and 'gets sick'. There are instances of awkward word choice, such as 'real time experience' and 'resistance is dead weak'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, you should incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to trade, nutrition, and consumer behavior, and work on collocations to sound more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('in supermarket'), incorrect verb forms ('one directly buy'), and punctuation issues (lack of capitalization at the start of sentences). Sentence structures are predominantly simple, with very few attempts at complex sentences. When complex structures are attempted, they often contain errors, such as 'where the one who bought food in online were not fresh'. The lack of consistent capitalization and punctuation significantly impacts the professional quality of the writing. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement is essential.
