Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under-length at only 80 words, failing to meet the 250-word minimum requirement. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While you state a position that the development is positive, the ideas are extremely limited and lack the necessary development, supporting arguments, or relevant examples required for an academic essay. The response does not explore the implications of global food trade, such as economic impact, environmental concerns, or cultural exchange, which are essential for a full response. To improve, you must expand your ideas into full paragraphs with clear topic sentences and supporting evidence.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no introduction, body, or conclusion, and the text is fragmented. The use of cohesive devices is almost non-existent, making the progression of ideas difficult to follow. The sentences are disconnected, and the paragraphing is not used effectively to organize thoughts. To improve, you should learn to use linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'however' to connect your ideas logically. Additionally, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single main idea to create a coherent flow throughout the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive, relying on simple phrases like 'a lot of people' and 'different type of food'. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'spending to much time in shopping activity' and 'food are consuming', which hinder the clarity of your message. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas or academic arguments. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to globalization, trade, and consumerism, and practice using synonyms to avoid repetition.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the short text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('food are consuming', 'different type of food are utilizing') and incorrect preposition usage. The sentence structures are very simple and lack the complexity required for higher band scores. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with errors in capitalization and sentence boundaries. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive versus active voice. Practicing complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses, will also help increase your score.
