Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's rapidly changing world consumption of overprocessed and ready to eat food is a matter of concern. The young generation influenced by different variety of food that represents different culture. In my opinion, i strongly agree that negative development outweighs the positive aspects in terms of health and tradition.

To begin with, there is a common perception in some countries that buying meals from the stores give you the exposure of the worldwide famous food. Additionally, people tend to think that buying things which come from another country uplifts their social status and lifestyle. For Instance, youth influenced by some social media advertisement regarding a particular packaged drink and ready to eat savories, and buy them unnecessarily. As a result, people get more attracted towards the globally recognized food items. Whereas, some popular food items such as carbonated beverages and soft drinks get worldwide recognition because of the social media influencers

Furthermore, most of the people rely on the ready to eat items which is harmful for their health because they lack in nutrition as compare to homecooked meals. However, it has some positive aspects that we can find the food from the various regions of the world at one place. For example, people from another country can taste the food of another country despite being in a same place. Although, the preparation of packaged food is much more convenient for some working professionals while the cost of transportation of food is quiet high. Consequently, each and every people cannot afford these kind of food because of the high cost.

In conclusion, even though the globally recognized food having positive development but it cannot be as much potential as the negative development. This is primarily because people get them only because of social media influence or it maybe harmful for our health and a burden on our economy.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed the prompt by taking a clear position that the negative aspects outweigh the positive. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat inconsistent. While you mention health and tradition, the focus shifts heavily toward social media influence and the cost of food, which are secondary to the core issue of global food availability. To improve, ensure that each paragraph directly supports your main argument with more depth. For instance, instead of just mentioning that packaged food is harmful, explain the specific long-term health consequences or the impact on local agricultural traditions to better support your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and you use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical or slightly disjointed. For example, the transition in the third paragraph ('However, it has some positive aspects...') feels abrupt because it contradicts the previous point without a smooth bridge. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as 'these kind of food', which lacks a specific antecedent. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between opposing ideas would help elevate your score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'carbonated beverages', 'social media influencers', and 'working professionals'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'give you the exposure of the worldwide famous food' (should be 'expose you to globally renowned food') and 'each and every people' (should be 'everyone'). You also rely on some repetitive phrasing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding informal or ungrammatical expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of your writing. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('the globally recognized food having positive development'), article usage ('the' before 'social media'), and pluralisation ('each and every people'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to limit your score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage would be highly beneficial.
