Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's world, customers can go to market and purchase food produced all over the world as nowadays eveyrthing is accessible everywhere regardless of where it is produced originally. In my opinion it is positive development, this essay will discuss the possible reasons why I hold this view.
on the one hand, people nowadays are not bound to buy the local food as now different types of food products are available all over the world. For instance people in Pakistan can eat Chinese and Italian food which is available at restaurants there, they do not need to visit china or Italy to get their specific food. Furthermore, some foods are originally produced in particular countries, people can import them from other countries. For example in some countries there is large production of rice whereas some parts of world are unable to produce rice due to climate change and seasoning conditions. In addition, international brands are now available in other countries where people can buy their specific food items such as diary products.
On the other hand, the food imported from other parts of the world can be reasonable therefore people may prefer to buy imported products at cheap prices. As a result local businesses may suffer due to low demand. Another disadvantage is logistics issues, importing food from other countries may require large trucks , ships and aircraft which may produce carbon emission and can be harmful for environment. In addition, buying food from other countries or locations can impact the freshness of the food until it reaches the location.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses the prompt by discussing both the positive and negative aspects of global food availability. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you provide examples like rice production and international brands, the argument regarding the 'positive' side is more descriptive than analytical. The negative side is better developed, covering economic and environmental impacts. To reach a higher band, ensure that your position is consistently maintained throughout the essay and that each point is fully explored with deeper reasoning rather than just listing examples. The conclusion is missing, which is a significant omission for a balanced task response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the one hand', 'Furthermore', and 'In addition'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the lack of a concluding paragraph makes the essay feel incomplete. The transition between the positive and negative arguments is clear, but the internal logic within paragraphs could be tighter. For instance, the jump from rice production to international brands feels slightly disjointed. Improving the use of referencing and ensuring a clear summary at the end would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'logistics', 'carbon emission', and 'demand'. However, there are some inaccuracies and repetitive phrasing. For example, 'seasoning conditions' is an incorrect collocation for 'seasonal conditions', and 'diary products' is a spelling error for 'dairy products'. The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and avoid repeating basic words like 'food' and 'countries' too frequently by using synonyms or referencing techniques.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'it is positive development' (missing article 'a'), 'eveyrthing' (spelling), and 'climate change and seasoning conditions' (awkward phrasing). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage in complex sentences. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and proofreading for minor slips that detract from the professional tone of your writing.
