Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you attempt to address the prompt by discussing the benefits of global food availability, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence. Furthermore, the essay is incomplete, ending abruptly at 'In conclusion,'. Because the task is not fully addressed and the conclusion is missing, the response cannot reach a higher band. To improve, ensure you provide a full introduction, two well-developed body paragraphs with specific examples, and a clear concluding summary.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, using transition words like 'Moreover' and 'For example'. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is present, but the lack of a conclusion makes the overall structure feel unfinished. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes mechanical or incorrectly applied, such as the awkward phrasing in the second paragraph. To improve, focus on linking sentences more fluidly and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'all kind of products' (should be 'all kinds of products') and 'Indian salesman' (which is too specific and slightly unnatural in this context). You rely on simple, repetitive vocabulary. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to global trade and consumerism, while paying closer attention to pluralization and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('supermarket provide', 'it effect'), missing articles ('the' before 'supermarket'), and sentence structure errors ('every is dependent on'). While there is an attempt at complex sentences, they are often marred by errors in punctuation and syntax. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that articles are used correctly. Proofreading for these common errors will help increase your score.
