Student answer (Band 6.0)
A shift in trend is observed nowadays, in many countries people prefer buying imported food over local food from their visit to the supermarket. In my opinion, this is a negative development, which can impact economy of any country in the long run.
Reduced food quality is the main factor consumers in the current time opt for food produced all over the world rather than buying local food. Lack of trust between a consumer is and its seller has led to this shift among the buyers. Food that is imported from other countries provide the food quality that a customer is looking for. Moreover, government should provide local producers with incentives, which can increase quality of domestic foods and in result increase its sales. This can benefit a countrys economy to a larger extent.
In contrast, many people believe the increase in the availability of imported food has given them variety in foods choices, which is not so commonly found in local brands. Consumers prefer having choices during shoping for food items rather being restricted to a few options. For instance, Pakistan imports a wide range of cheeses from abroad, such as blue cheese and mozzarella cheese, which helps the buyer select his favorite option. However, this development then forces the economy of that certain country to decline because of the of less sales of food items recorded
To conclude, there has been an increase in people buying food items that are imported because of the wide range of variety and the credibility of these products, which the consumers find lacking in their domestic food products. This can be achieved by providing transparency to the customer and funds to the farmers.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the trend of buying imported food and taking a clear position that it is a negative development due to economic impacts. The writer attempts to cover all parts of the task, though some arguments are contradictory. In the second paragraph, the student argues that 'reduced food quality' is why consumers opt for imported food, but then states that imported food 'provide the food quality that a customer is looking for.' This creates some confusion regarding the stance on quality. Ideas are presented and supported with an example regarding Pakistan importing cheeses, but the development is somewhat limited and contains generalisations. Overall, the task is addressed, corresponding to a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement and follows a standard paragraph structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to signal transitions, such as 'Moreover', 'In contrast', and 'To conclude'. However, referencing and logical progression are sometimes faulty. For instance, the transition into the conclusion abruptly shifts to mentioning how transparency and funds can achieve something, which is not clearly linked back to the preceding sentences. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion within paragraphs suffers from abrupt shifts in logic, particularly in the second paragraph where government intervention is introduced suddenly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'incentives', 'credibility', and 'transparency'. However, there are notable word choice, spelling, and collocation errors throughout the text. Examples include 'shoping' instead of shopping, 'countrys' instead of country's, 'variety in foods choices' instead of food choices, and 'of less sales' which creates an awkward phrase. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they reflect a Band 6.0 level where vocabulary use lacks precision and contains recurrent inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over structure through clauses introduced by 'which' and 'because'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in article usage, pluralisation, and subject-verb agreement. For example, 'lack of trust between a consumer is and its seller' contains a confusing structural error, 'imported food ... provide' has a subject-verb agreement error, and 'economy of that certain country' is slightly unnatural. Punctuation is also missing in a few spots, such as a missing period after 'recorded'. These errors occur regularly but rarely impede overall comprehension, fitting the Band 6.0 descriptor.
