Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The student addresses all parts of the task, taking a clear and consistent positive position on the issue of global food availability in supermarkets. Main ideas are presented, such as convenience, cost-effectiveness, and the strengthening of international relations. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. While supporting examples are provided, such as the personal anecdote about purchasing foundation from America or rural craft workers, the elaboration remains at a general level rather than being fully extended. The response tends to over-generalise in places, preventing it from reaching the higher bands. Overall, the requirements of the task are adequately met, corresponding to a Band 6.0 performance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing separating the introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, cohesion at the sentence level is occasionally mechanical or faulty. Transitional phrases such as 'Firstly', 'Secondaly', and 'Furthermore' are used frequently, but referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'with this our hard working and intelligent people work will get appreciation'. Paragraph sequencing is logical, moving from personal convenience to broader economic relations, yet the progression within paragraphs can feel disjointed due to grammatical errors in linking. These features place the response firmly in the Band 6 category.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a range of vocabulary appropriate to the topic, including terms like 'import export buisness', 'international relations', and 'affordable price'. However, there are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'superstores', 'buisness', 'delievery', 'Secondaly', 'mad' instead of 'made', and 'advancemet'. Word choice and collocation are also imprecise at times, such as 'get imported materials with ease' or 'the more we bought products the more will be import'. While the range is adequate to convey the central message, the frequency of lexical errors and spelling mistakes keeps the score at Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some ambition with conditional and relative clauses, such as 'when people purchase international products from market, it results in growing international relations'. Nevertheless, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in articles, prepositions, verb forms, and plurals (e.g., 'in current era', 'visit to a superstores', 'do not spend', 'past time', 'our country products will also be start getting exporting'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally cause slight difficulty for the reader, although communication is not severely impeded. This profile aligns with the Band 5.0 descriptors.
