Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the prompt regarding whether global food availability is a positive or negative development, expressing a clear position that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The student mentions drawbacks, such as people being dependent on others and lacking time, but fails to clearly explain how these relate to imported food. The discussion of benefits focuses heavily on the availability of fruits like kiwi and dragon fruit in Pakistani cities. While there is a position and some relevant ideas, the arguments are under-developed and lack sufficient extension or clear reasoning, fitting the criteria for Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text is organized into paragraphs with basic introductory and concluding remarks, and it attempts to use transition markers such as 'To begin with its drawback' and 'To illustrate'. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed and repetitive. Referencing is frequently unclear, and cohesive devices are used mechanically or inaccurately, such as the repeated phrase 'its benefits higher than its drawback aspect to disscuss'. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion is faulty, meaning the logical flow is disrupted throughout the response. This performance aligns with Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent errors in word choice, collocation, and word formation (e.g., 'contemorary', 'dependent' used as a noun, 'disscuss'). The writer attempts some less common vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'supermarket', 'produced', and specific fruit names, but noticeable errors occur throughout the text (e.g., 'can easily buy to a market' and 'dragon food'). These lexical limitations and errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, placing the response firmly at Band 4.5, which rounds to 5.0 based on descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but many complex structures are faulty or awkwardly phrased (e.g., 'From my perspective, i believe that its benefits higher than its drawback aspect to disscuss'). There are frequent errors in basic grammar, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation, such as missing capitalisation ('i', 'pakistan') and incorrect preposition use ('buy to a market'). While communication is generally maintained despite the frequent errors, the high density of structural inaccuracies keeps the score at Band 4.5, awarded as 5.0.
