Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to address the prompt by expressing a clear position that global food availability is a positive development. Ideas are introduced regarding economic support, international trade, and the availability of out-of-season items, such as importing mangoes to the USA from Asia. However, the development of these ideas is limited and somewhat superficial. For instance, the example provided about purchasing an iPhone 17 Pro Max from a grocery market is irrelevant to the core topic of food production and global consumption. Furthermore, the reasoning tends to be repetitive, and the final paragraph introduces a vague concluding thought about future challenges without clear elaboration. Therefore, the response aligns best with a Band 5 descriptor for partially addressing the task with limited idea development.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organised into paragraphs, beginning with an introduction, followed by body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and confusing sentence structures, such as "To commence with, in various states like Germany, USA... users went to the market and purchase anything they want while, if they did not want to go which now possible..." Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, and referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow the flow of arguments. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical links within paragraphs are weak. These features place the response firmly in the Band 5 category for coherence and cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses a limited and occasionally inappropriate range of vocabulary. While there are some attempts to use less common items such as "import export sector" and "dedicative impact," these are often misused or unnatural in context. There are notable lexical and collocational errors throughout the text, including "users" instead of "consumers", "daily need products", "great excess to products", and "domestic unit" instead of home. Although the meaning is usually retrievable despite these inaccuracies, the restricted range and frequent word choice errors indicate a Band 5 performance for lexical resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are persistent errors in tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as "it creates a crucial role for of communities", "users went to the market and purchase", and "I strongly with notion". Punctuation is also problematic, with run-on sentences and missing commas creating confusion. These frequent errors cause significant difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from achieving a higher band, placing it at a Band 5 level.
