Student answer (Band 5.5)
In bygone era, people had limited choice of food products from their country to buy and if any product is imported from foreign then their cost almost double from orignal worth. However, today due to globalisation one can easily buy and eat any particular food from any corner of the world. I believe that it is a positive development and it does not make any type of harm to anyone.
To commence with, supermarkets offer various food and products and one can easily find his preferred food items from any part of the world. People get chance to try variety of food from different nationalities of other countries. Not only it benefit consumers, it also allow producers to sell their product in foreign market and earn in foreign currency and with increased income they can buy new equipments and increase their production ouality and quantity.
Not only this, supermarkets also see a great business prospectous in selling food from all over the world, as people tend to buy more foreign food as compared to domestic food. Hence, they place food from all over the world at front to increase their sales and profit margins. Besides it, government of both importer and exporter country earn money in the form of tax on import and export of food, so they also encourage this practice as they can use that money as foriegn exchange reserve or for the development of the country.
All in all, due the the good foreign relations it has been possible to buy food produced all over the world. Moreover, I believe that this development enabled producers to earn more money and consumers to taste variety of food from various countries and nationalities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by clearly taking a position that global food availability is a positive development. Key ideas regarding consumer choice, producer benefits, and economic impacts are introduced, fulfilling the basic requirements of Task 2. However, the development of ideas tends to be somewhat superficial and repetitive, particularly in the later paragraphs where points about business prospects and government taxes overlap conceptually. While the writer maintains a clear stance throughout and provides reasons to support it, the arguments would benefit from greater depth and more specific examples rather than broad generalisations. Overall, the task is adequately addressed, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors where relevant ideas are presented but remain somewhat under-developed in places.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay displays a generally coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised to separate distinct ideas, such as consumer benefits in the second paragraph and economic factors in the third. However, the progression between sentences and ideas is sometimes hindered by mechanical or faulty cohesive devices. For instance, the transition 'Not only this' is repetitive and used awkwardly to link disparate points. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and logical flow is disrupted by minor structural disjointedness. Despite these flaws, the writing remains easy to follow overall, making the performance consistent with the Band 6 descriptor where cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'globalisation', 'prospectous', and 'foreign exchange reserve'. However, there are notable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice and spelling, including 'bygone era' (missing article), 'orignal', 'equipments' (uncountable noun treated as plural), 'ouality', and 'prospectous'. Despite these lexical errors and occasional awkward collocations, the vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main ideas without causing significant strain for the reader. This performance sits comfortably within the Band 6 category, reflecting an adequate range with some spelling and word-choice errors that do not impede communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The student employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms throughout the essay, demonstrating an ability to construct multi-clause sentences using subordinating and coordinating conjunctions. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in articles, prepositions, and subject-verb agreement, such as 'if any product is imported from foreign then their cost almost double', 'one can easily find his preferred', and 'due the the good foreign relations'. Punctuation is also occasionally weak. Although these errors are noticeable and detract from the overall polish of the writing, they rarely impede meaning, as the intended message remains clear. This balance of mixed structures and persistent errors aligns well with the Band 6 criteria.
