Student answer (Band 5.5)

Recent years most of the countries provide, buying foods in supermarket which has a large varities of products related to different nations from all around the world.

Most of the people prefer having all kinds of eatables at one place which provides benifits in many ways, on the other hand some argue that its not the best choice.

In my opinion having all at one place gives many options to people to know large varities of food from different regions and their culture through them and it can make the world economy better by increasing the trade, importing and selling goods to otherby this many can gain knowleage and importances of various food sources and its benifits, for example nuts, fruits that grow in some regions which are temperature dependent and soil dependent they can be imported to other places were they are less or not produced by this they can enjoy the flavors and benifics of it, like dates that are most specific in Afican country, Indian species.

In contrast it can have negative effect on small shops, venders that are dependent on it, if the supermart gather all in one place it causes damage to them in their daily income and life, and also tranports can also cause damage to food which have less shelf life, if the transport period is long.

overall, supermarket is good and can be benificial where the government should manage it properly considering the common people who relay on the food market and also make sure the packaging is good befort it is available to public.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the positive and negative developments of buying global food in supermarkets, establishing a clear position in the conclusion. The student presents relevant ideas, such as cultural exposure and economic benefits on one hand, and the negative impact on small vendors and transport spoilage on the other. However, these ideas are somewhat under-developed and lack extended explanation. For instance, the mention of dates and Indian spices is illustrative, but the overall progression of arguments is brief. Despite this, all parts of the prompt are covered, fitting the criteria for Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement, dividing ideas into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, paragraphing and sentence boundaries are poorly managed. The first body paragraph is an excessively long, run-on sentence that links multiple distinct thoughts together with commas rather than full stops, which hinders smooth progression. Cohesive devices are used, but referencing is sometimes unclear, and transitions between ideas feel mechanical. Overall organisation is present, but structural control keeps this criterion at a Band 5.0 level.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting less common items such as 'temperature dependent' and 'shelf life'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'varities', 'benifits', 'venders', 'supermart', 'tranports', 'relay', and 'befort'. These errors occasionally cause slight confusion for the reader, though communication is generally maintained. The limitations in word choice and frequent spelling slips place this response securely in Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response shows an attempt at complex sentence structures, but these constructions are frequently faulty. The entire first body paragraph consists of a single massive, run-on sentence plagued by comma splices and lack of appropriate punctuation. Grammatical errors are frequent, particularly in subject-verb agreement and preposition usage, such as 'most of the countries provide, buying foods' and 'in Afican country'. While simple sentences are generally understandable, the high frequency of structural and punctuation errors causes difficulty for the reader, warranting a Band 5.0.
