Student answer (Band 5.5)

In most of the countries, buying any type of food produced all over world is more convenient than in the past, people don't need to visit certain places to taste their food and enjoy. The fact is processesd food from different countries is available in every supermarket of the countries, no doubt it makes most of the people's lives easier by the availability of these products, but it carries some slight disadvantages.

Most countries deliver their processed grocery items to different countries and import most of their products to sell in their own country, and food from different regions shows the agricultural diversity of various places. There is no doubt that all the items are healthy for health but they cannot have the same taste; another concern is that food and fruits are region-specific and suitable for the soil of that particular country and area. A problem arises when people tend to grow them in their own gardens by using their seeds. Consequently, it causes damage to the soil of the foreign country and leads people to different troubles.

Furthermore, it is argued that we should celebrate this advancement, as it is makes us able to taste a variety of food items, which means is we are actually living their culture. this is absolutely right but there is a need to understand that

Processed food can't compete with the fresh one's.

Moreover, having food from all over the world has significant impact and importance in our life, but we should limit ourselves to buy them in some extent. Though there positive impact outweight the neagitive effect.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the convenience of global food availability and some associated disadvantages, such as agricultural and soil concerns. A position is presented, though it remains somewhat generalised and underdeveloped in places, particularly in the conclusion where the argument feels rushed. For instance, the opening states that buying imported food is more convenient, and the second body paragraph introduces a specific point about soil damage when growing foreign seeds. While the ideas are relevant, they lack sufficient depth and elaboration to reach a higher band. However, the writer does successfully cover the main prompt elements, earning a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a logical attempt to sequence ideas into an introduction, supporting paragraphs, and a concluding remark. Paragraphing is utilised, although some paragraphs are quite brief or disjointed. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Furthermore' and 'Moreover', but referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the phrase 'this is absolutely right' where the exact antecedent is vague. Additionally, punctuation errors within sentences, like capitalisation slips ('this is absolutely right'), detract from smooth progression. Progression is sometimes mechanical rather than fluid. Overall, these features align best with a Band 5.5 descriptor, showing basic organisational control.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'agricultural diversity', 'region-specific', and 'advancement'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, including 'processesd' instead of 'processed', 'outweight' instead of 'outweigh', and 'neagitive' instead of 'negative'. Furthermore, phrasing like 'limit ourselves to buy them in some extent' contains unnatural collocation. While these errors do not severely impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the score from reaching a Band 6.0, positioning the response firmly at a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety. However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text. Run-on sentences and comma splices are present, such as in the opening paragraph: '...enjoy. The fact is...' and '...enjoyed. The fact is...'. Other issues include subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'in most of the countries' and 'for health'. Despite these errors, the meaning remains mostly clear to the reader, allowing the text to achieve a Band 5.0 based on the presence of basic complex structures combined with recurring structural inaccuracies.
