Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, the supply of the food products rapidly increased all over the world. In many countries nowadays, consumers can visit the supermarkets and buy the food produced all over the world according to their requirement. I contemplate that, this is a positive development to the people and the manufacturers.

The demand of the people regarding to the food product has been increasing, most of the people are willing to have the hygenic and tasty products. The supermakets are providing the variety of food products that produced all over the world. This will help the country to develop their economy, future growth, and increased in population. It will be benefit for the poeple who lived outside to their country, for instance if a person migrate to another country so he or she can buy the food product from the supermarkets which is produced in their country, this will prevent them from having different food to eat.

Furthermore, it is also helpfull to the local people for buying the food products and selling in their cities. They can get each variety of product in the supermarket, this will reduce the cost of tranportation or migration to the another state.

To sum up, I firmly believe that supermakets helping the people of the society, providing the better food products with quality. This help them to increase the profit of their businesse and also help the government to increase in their economy as many people love to ling longer in such countries

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position that the availability of global food products in supermarkets is a positive development. The writer attempts to support this viewpoint by mentioning economic growth, benefits for expatriates, and reduced transportation costs. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on expatriates finding food from their home country is a relevant point, but it lacks sufficient elaboration and relies on a single general example. Similarly, the points regarding local economic benefits and supermarket profits are stated rather than fully extended. While all parts of the task are addressed, the arguments remain somewhat surface-level and lack the depth expected for higher bands, placing this response comfortably at Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. Paragraphing is utilized, dividing the response into logical thematic blocks such as benefits for individuals and economic impacts. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. Transition markers like 'Furthermore' and 'To sum up' are used, but referencing within sentences occasionally breaks down, such as 'It will be benefit for the poeple who lived outside to their country' and 'supermakets helping the people'. Additionally, the flow between sentences in the second body paragraph feels disjointed due to abrupt shifts from economic growth to immigrant experiences. Overall, the organizational structure is apparent, but cohesive devices and referencing require greater control, aligning with a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, touching upon terms like 'consumers', 'supermarkets', 'transportation', and 'economy'. There are several attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'expatriates' or related concepts, but these are undermined by frequent word-choice errors and spelling mistakes (e.g., 'hygenic', 'supermakets', 'tranportation', 'ling'). Furthermore, collocations are occasionally unnatural, such as 'the supply of the food products rapidly increased' or 'increased in population'. While these lexical inadequacies and spelling errors are noticeable and detract from the precision of the writing, they do not severely impede overall communication, supporting a Band 5.5 score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, attempting relative clauses and conditional-style examples (e.g., 'for instance if a person migrate to another country so he or she can buy...'). However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in verb forms, tense consistency, and prepositions, such as 'food product has been increasing, most of the people are willing' (comma splice), 'helpfull', 'lived outside to their country', and 'supermakets helping the people'. Complex structures often contain errors that disrupt the flow. Despite these frequent errors, the meaning remains mostly clear to the reader, fulfilling the criteria for Band 5.0.
