Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response attempts to address both sides of the issue regarding global food availability in supermarkets, offering a personal viewpoint. However, the position is somewhat obscured by awkward phrasing in the introduction and conclusion. Furthermore, the ideas are often limited and under-developed, particularly in the body paragraphs where points about health and economic growth are mentioned briefly without sufficient extension or supporting examples. Additionally, a crucial penalty must be applied here because the length requirement is NOT met: the response contains only 232 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum. Consequently, the task achievement is restricted to a lower band due to under-length and limited development.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, which provides a basic structural framework, but the logical progression is frequently disrupted by confusing transitions and unclear referencing. For example, sentences like 'This will be outlined not only he both views...' show faulty use of cohesive devices and mechanical referencing. The internal organisation of the body paragraphs lacks smooth linking, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of arguments. Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas within paragraphs feels disjointed, resulting in a somewhat confused overall arrangement.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently impeded by word choice and spelling errors. Examples of awkward collocation and incorrect forms include 'requirement of human changes', 'ease to accees', 'varities', and 'producied in good manner'. The writer attempts some less common terms like 'economic growth' and 'necessities', but frequent inaccuracies in word formation and spelling limit the precision and range of the lexical resource. These errors occasionally strain the reader's understanding.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The essay demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences or attempts at complex sentences that are consistently faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('whether its living style', 'cost of imported is moderatelyt high'), missing articles, and incorrect prepositions. These frequent errors cause considerable difficulty for the reader and mean that error-free sentences are rare. Punctuation is also erratic throughout the text.
