Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays customers can access the supermarkets for purchasing food produced items across the world. I truely agree that it is a positive aspect of life, with the availaibilty of supermarkets life is much more easier for everyone. I will discuss the more reasons further.

Firstly, in the supermarkets across the world there are varity of products available from different culture to different country. Secondly, the products that are available in the supermarkets are cheaper as compared to local vendors and friendly to consumers pocket, moreover in the supermarkets the hygiene and quality are top notch thing, just a like local vendors trying to sell of their items the supermarkets make sure to retain the customer with a a better service. Perhaps the strongest reason is that in the supermarket it is time saving with a consumer friendly attitude and you get all the things at one place. Not like earlier we had to visit different stores for puchasing different goods, where prices used to fluctuate in each shops. For example a lot of customers are introvert in that case they can just pick what they are willing to take without any one-on-one conversation.

In conclusion with supermarkets are shwowing a positive trend in our society with better services and quality of good at a cheaper prices. For example in countries there are international students, the local vendor try to sell them the food products at higher prices just because they are not comfortable iwth local language and they have to pay whatever they are asked for.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear positive stance on the availability of global food produce in supermarkets. Key ideas such as variety, price competitiveness, hygiene, and time-saving convenience are introduced. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion moves quickly through several points without deep elaboration, and the final paragraph introduces a new, weakly linked point about international students facing higher prices at local vendors. Because the main position is stated and supported with reasons, the response fulfills the basic requirements of the task, earning a Band 6.0 under the task achievement descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay demonstrates an overall logical arrangement with clear attempts at sequencing ideas using transition markers like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow is frequently disrupted by awkward phrasing, run-on sentences, and mechanical cohesive devices. Paragraphing is present, but the division between body ideas and the conclusion feels abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'I will discuss the more reasons further' and 'Not like earlier we had to visit different stores'. These coherence issues place the response firmly at Band 5.5, as the progression is sometimes difficult to follow due to faulty linking and mechanical phrasing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting common and slightly less common items such as 'competitiveness', 'hygiene', 'introvert', and 'fluctuate'. However, there are frequent word choice and collocation errors, along with spelling mistakes like 'truely' instead of 'truly', 'availaibilty', 'varity', and 'iwth'. Words are sometimes used in incorrect forms or contexts, such as 'food produced items' instead of 'food products' and 'friendly to consumers pocket'. Despite these inaccuracies, meaning is generally communicated, which aligns with the Band 5.5 descriptors for lexical resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent errors in punctuation, article usage, and subject-verb agreement, such as 'life is much more easier' instead of 'much easier', 'a better service', and 'with supermarkets are shwowing'. Many complex structures are faulty or awkward, such as 'For example a lot of customers are introvert in that case they can just pick...'. While some error-free basic sentences exist, the frequency of grammatical mistakes causes noticeable strain for the reader, placing this response at a Band 5.0.
