Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the global availability of food is a positive development. Key ideas, such as culinary variety, tourism benefits, and economic impacts like job creation and GDP growth, are introduced. However, the development of these ideas is limited and sometimes superficial. For example, the mention of statistics regarding stores opening in India lacks clear integration and precision, and the argument tends to over-generalize without deeper elaboration. While all parts of the task are addressed, the support remains basic and lacks the depth expected for higher bands, aligning best with Band 5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into distinct paragraphs, attempting an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and confusing sentence structures. Cohesive devices are used in a basic or repetitive manner (e.g., 'If we look in the past', 'Mostly the every store', 'In conclustion'), and referencing is often unclear, such as pronoun ambiguity ('when the went to ate outside'). Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within paragraphs is weak, creating an uneven flow for the reader. This performance reflects Band 5 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently constrained by spelling and word-choice errors (e.g., 'global market' missing articles, 'varoius option', 'incresed', 'abrod', 'conclustion'). The writer attempts some less common vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'industry', 'revenue', and 'GDP', but inaccurate collocations and word forms are common ('sale the different items', 'more income option'). These lexical inaccuracies occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and restrict the range to a minimally adequate level, fitting Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The essay demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple or faulty compound sentences. Attempts at complex structures often contain severe grammatical errors, such as missing subjects, incorrect verb tenses, and tense shifts (e.g., 'while the went to hotel', 'people can able to sale', 'has the positive development'). Punctuation is frequently missing or misused, particularly around conjunctions and clause boundaries. Frequent errors cause noticeable strain and difficulty for the reader, which corresponds to the Band 4 descriptor.
