Student answer (Band 5.5)
In many countries nowadays, people can visit to a superstore and buy food that is being produced anywhere in the world. It provide ease to the consumers to get what they want, available on time. I strongly believe that it is a positive development.
One important reason to support this development is that the people in this era are very busy in life and they hardly get time to enjoy or spend it on themselves. They mostly prefer to have the things on their table rather than to wait for the things. Lets take an example of mangoes, they are not produced in Estonia due to its harsh weather, so if the mangoes are not available there, the people cannot enjoy its taste. So, in order to taste it or make recipes with it, they have to wait for months to be delivered to them.
Another reason is that, delivering them to desired countries also raise the economy of the country that is producing it. It also helps in having strong foreign relationship among each other. We can have two plus points here because, if we think it as a country, we are fulfilling the needs of each others and increasing our popularity that shows the positive impact.
In conclusion, I strongly appreciate this kind of development in which the consumers can go to a supermarket and buy food produced all over the world because it is helpful for the people who are buying them and also for the growth of the country in terms of financing and economics.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position that the availability of global food in supermarkets is a positive development. The writer presents relevant supporting arguments, such as the convenience for busy consumers and the economic benefits for producing nations. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed, relying on brief explanations rather than deep elaboration. For instance, the example of mangoes in Estonia touches upon availability, but the reasoning remains relatively simple. The conclusion restates the position effectively. Overall, the response meets the core requirements of Task 2 by presenting a clear stance and supporting arguments, aligning best with Band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as consumer convenience and economic advantages. Cohesive devices are employed to link ideas, such as 'One important reason', 'Another reason', and 'In conclusion'. However, some of the referencing and transitions feel a bit mechanical or imprecise, such as 'delivering them to desired countries also raise the economy' where the pronoun antecedent is slightly unclear. Progression is generally logical, leading to a clear overall score of 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common items and topic-related vocabulary, such as 'superstore', 'consumers', 'foreign relationship', and 'economics'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'visit to a superstore' (unnecessary preposition), 'It provide ease' (agreement error and unnatural phrasing), and 'raise the economy' (should be 'boost' or 'grow'). Spelling is generally accurate, but the lexical limitations and inaccuracies place this response firmly at Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('It provide ease', 'delivering them... also raise'), incorrect verb forms ('food that is being produced' where simple present or past participle is better), and article misuse ('in this era are very busy in life'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, their frequency prevents the response from achieving a higher band. Control of grammar is characteristic of Band 5.0.
