Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, people in several states can go to a supermarkets and buy food manufactured across the world. Although, it has some drawbacks, but I believe that this is a positive development overall. This essay will discuss, both the pros and cons of the given notion.

To begin with, the availability of different variety of foods all over the world can given the opportunity to the consumers, that that should try different kind of foods. The edibles that are not present in one country and then it can found somewhere in the supermarket, gives a sense of happiness. For instance, if the pakistani foods are not there in the uk, and someone is try hard to find that food, and suddenly goes to a supermarket and there it is readily accessible. It can give a certain kind of relief.

On the other hand, this development can also lead to a drawback. If the consumers can easily get every kind of food from different superstores, it may cause a lose of interest of people`s foods from their inheritance or roots. As a result, the taste of ones country food can be no more there and would be used to others country food taste. This is definitely one of the shortcoming of this.

In conclusion, food availability across the whole world in the supermarkets for the buyers, is certainly a positive aspect. Consumers could try different variety of foods anywhere they go. Consequently, it also leads to the drawback, that they would forget their own state food taste.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, taking a clear stance that global food availability in supermarkets is a positive development. The essay discusses both the pros and cons, mentioning food variety and happiness on one hand, and the potential loss of traditional culinary heritage on the other. However, the ideas are somewhat under-developed and repetitive, particularly in the body paragraphs where examples are simplistic and circular (e.g., Pakistani food in the UK). While a position is presented and supported, the arguments lack depth and academic extension, aligning best with Band 5.5 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The text is organized into clear paragraphs with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a logical progression attempted, but the overall cohesion is frequently faulty and mechanical. The student relies on basic transitional phrases like 'To begin with' and 'On the other hand', but referencing and conjunctions are often awkward or inaccurate, such as 'Although, it has some drawbacks, but I believe...' which mixes subordinate and coordinate conjunctions incorrectly. Paragraphing is present, but the internal logical flow suffers from repetitive phrasing and weak cohesive ties.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and adequate only for basic communication. The student attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'readily accessible', 'shortcoming', and 'heritage', but these are accompanied by frequent noticeable errors in word choice and morphology, such as 'a supermarkets', 'different variety', 'try hard', 'lose of interest' instead of 'loss', and 'ones country food'. These lexical slips and inaccuracies occasionally cause difficulty and hesitation for the reader, placing the response firmly at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty. There are multiple grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the pakistani foods are not there... and someone is try hard'), incorrect article usage ('the uk', 'others country food taste'), and faulty sentence structure ('can given the opportunity to the consumers, that that should try...'). Punctuation and phrasing errors are frequent and can cause difficulty for the reader, matching the requirements for Band 5.0.
