Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the current era, individual can buy food produced all over the world in their local market. From my prespective it is a good developement in the trade sector and the economic and infrastructure department as well. The rationale is that, humans have developed their technology and transportation sector to the point that produce can now travel all across the globe without being harmed by bad weather, losses due to natural factor and many unforseen circumstances.
The formemost argument being that, we have had rapid developments in our systems in the past century, people can now access anything they desire from clothes to furniture to food at their doorstep from all across the globe. Not only that, the local markets are filled with products and produce from different countries, to the point that it has become a norm that out 10 goods a person buy, 7 will be imported from abroad. This development is in every sense a positive one. For example, you can find fruits of different verieties like mangoes, oranges and apples irrespective of the season in the host country, this has allowed consumer to be able to access any produce without worrying about it being not in-season.
On the other hand, it can be considered not so positive of a development, considering that many different chemicals and harmful sustance are bring used on food products to prevent them from rotting or getting infected with diseases and bugs. These substances although prevent food from rotting, adversly effect the health. Besides that, many people are not in favour of high number of imports as it has negative effect on local business with their products attracting less number of consumers. For example, people prefer to buy internationl products not domestic product because of their reputation, leaving the local bsuiness in peril over their sustainence.
To sum it all up, although it is a positve developement to find produce from all the around the world and it has alot of advantages but their are also credible reason to not completely favour this practice as well. Thus, it is better to suggest a balance between local and international commodities to keep stability and help economic developement as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the task by presenting both positive and negative aspects of global food trade before concluding with a balanced view. A clear position is maintained throughout the response. Ideas are generally extended and supported with relevant examples, such as the availability of out-of-season fruits like mangoes and oranges, as well as the impact on local businesses. However, some arguments lack deeper development and border on over-generalisation, such as the claim that out of ten goods a person buys, seven are imported. Overall, the response meets the requirements for Band 6.5, leaning towards Band 7 due to clear task coverage, but is slightly held back by limited depth in secondary arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas from introduction to body paragraphs and conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, separating the positive view, the negative view, and the final synthesis. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'From my prespective', 'The formemost argument', and 'On the other hand', but some referencing and linking mechanisms feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. For instance, the transition 'Besides that' is somewhat informal, and referencing errors occasionally disrupt the flow. Despite these flaws, the logical progression is clear throughout, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptor criteria.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully attempting less common lexical items such as 'infrastructure', 'unforeseen circumstances', 'sustenance', and 'commodities'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that occur throughout the text, including 'prespective' instead of perspective, 'developement' instead of development, 'formemost' instead of foremost, 'verieties' instead of varieties, 'substance' instead of substances, 'adversly' instead of adversely, and 'internationl' instead of international. While these errors do not seriously impede communication, their frequency prevents the score from reaching a higher band, placing the response solidly at Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over relative clauses and conditional structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in tense usage, subject-verb agreement, and article placement. Examples include 'individual can buy' (should be individuals or an individual), 'harmful sustance are bring used' (should be are being used), and 'attracting less number of consumers' (should be a smaller number). Punctuation errors also occur, such as missing commas after introductory phrases. Because the errors are noticeable and occur across a variety of sentence structures without completely obstructing meaning, the response fits the Band 6 profile for grammar.
