Student answer (Band 5.0)

In these days multiple countries, customers have a option of supermarket they can go to that and purchase food made globely. In my prospective, this thing would have both prons and cons that I will discusss in the upcoming paragraphs .

To commence with, supermarket get a very crucial role in every city. Because it have plethora advantages that will make easy the life of individual, Firstly, the one of the biggest benefit of supermarkt is that consumers can get each and everything in under one roof . As a result of this, customers can compare the quality and price of two things at that time. Secondly , it will also save the time period that customers exhaust on the visting different different stores, That saved time customers can utilize on other crucial work. Moreover, better quality products is available in the supermarket that will easily attract more customers. Beside this, when families visit supermarket with their childerns that situation will also be very hard to control . At that time in supermarket there is ample of swings and other things is in the supermarket which allure to childerns to use them instead of doing distrub to their guardins.Supermarket also give employment to many people in their stores from where they can earn good income source.

On the contrary side, there is a also a few drwabacks of supermarket . The availbility of supermarket is not in the every corner of the world it is hard for countryside located population to get this facility. If the supermarket numbers is increase then it will cause lot of loss to local vendors who totally rely on their shops. When they don¨t get enough earning from their shops then theybwill statrted facing financial issues.

In conclusion, no doubt the supermarket play a very significant role for societies . But it will also cause detrimental impact on other works. Which lead to many drawbacks of supermarket . I think the supermarket is shloud be only in big cities where population is very big and they dont get stuff from local shops.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the pros and cons of supermarkets offering global food, which directly answers the core question of whether this is a positive or negative development. The writer takes a clear position in the introduction stating that it has both pros and cons. Main ideas are presented, such as convenience, price comparison, employment, and the negative impact on local vendors. However, many of these ideas are under-developed or touch upon irrelevant details, such as children playing with swings in the supermarket. The arguments lack deep extension and rely heavily on generalisations rather than fully supported reasoning. Consequently, the performance aligns best with the Band 5 descriptors, where the task is addressed, but ideas remain limited and partially developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay attempts a logical structure by organising content into an introduction, body paragraphs addressing advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. However, the overall progression is disrupted by abrupt shifts in topic and repetitive phrasing. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as starting sentences with disconnected transitions ('Beside this,' or 'To commence with, supermarket get...'). Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas within paragraphs feels disorganised—for instance, mixing supermarket employment and children's entertainment within the same paragraph about shopping benefits. Referencing is also occasionally unclear. This level of cohesion and paragraphing reflects Band 5, where some organisation is present, but the progression lacks clarity and cohesive devices are inadequate or overused.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with noticeable errors in word choice, formation, and spelling throughout the essay (e.g., 'globely' for globally, 'prons' for pros, 'supermarkt', 'drwabacks', 'availbility', 'thybwill'). The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'plethora advantages' and 'detrimental impact', but these attempts are marred by inaccurate collocations and grammatical mismatch. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the basic message about supermarkets, the frequent spelling and word-choice errors cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the response from achieving a higher band. This is indicative of Band 5 lexical resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences joined by basic conjunctions. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, plagued by basic agreement errors and tense inconsistencies (e.g., 'supermarket get a very crucial role', 'Because it have plethora advantages', 'if the supermarket numbers is increase'). Punctuation is also erratic, with frequent unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. Errors occur across almost every sentence and frequently impede smooth reading. Because the structures are heavily restricted and errors are constant, the grammar sits firmly at Band 4, reflecting frequent structural and accuracy issues.
