Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, in many countries, Purchasers go to the supermarket to buy food and other essential items they use in their daily lives. In supermarkets, food is imported from various countries. Most supermarkets import these types of food items from other countries, which most people prefer to buy.
In addition to, Food is a basic need of every human life. People need food for survival, and other species like birds and animals also need food to survive. From my perspective, Supermarkets are a very beneficial option for all people. Customers can buy all types of food from supermarkets that import all types of food from all over the world. I personally prefer to go to one market where I can find all the things and food items that I need.
The other main reason is that consumers can buy all the food items in one supermarket. They do not have to wander in different markets to buy these items. It is very convenient for buyers if they go to one supermarket and buy all the items that they need.
On the other hand, some people do not like to buy things or food items in only one supermarket. Because they love to explore different markets and then buy the things that they actually need. Some people's opinion is that, due to supermarkets, people leave to plant fresh food like vegetables and fruits.
In the end, I summarize this topic although, supermarkets play a extremely crucial role in our life. However, people can easily go to supermarket and buy things very easily but on the other hand it make people very lazy. Because when we explore more markets u can check different rates of food and also check the qualities of all supermarkets.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether the availability of global food in supermarkets is a positive or negative development. A position is presented, stating that supermarkets are beneficial because of convenience, while also acknowledging the counter-argument that they can make people lazy or discourage local planting. However, the ideas are somewhat repetitive and lack deep development or specific supporting examples. For instance, the argument about convenience is reiterated without introducing new dimensions or robust evidence. The conclusion attempts to summarize the points made, but the overall task coverage falls into the Band 6 category because the ideas remain somewhat under-developed and general.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay has a recognizable overall progression, starting with an introduction, moving through body paragraphs with differing viewpoints, and ending with a conclusion. However, paragraphing is awkward at times, with single sentences or poorly structured blocks breaking the flow. Cohesive devices are used, but they are frequently mechanical or misused, as seen in phrases like 'In addition to,' or 'In the end, I summarize this topic although,' which disrupt logical transitions between sentences. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall management of cohesion shows noticeable flaws, placing it firmly at a Band 5 level.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey basic ideas about supermarkets, food, and consumer habits. However, the range is limited and repetitive, with frequent reliance on basic terms such as 'food items,' 'things,' and 'supermarket.' There are noticeable errors in word choice and phrasing, such as 'Purchasers go to the supermarket' instead of shoppers or consumers, and 'people leave to plant fresh food' instead of stop growing. These lexical limitations and occasional inaccuracies restrict the score to a Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty or awkward. There are numerous grammatical errors and punctuation issues throughout the text, including fragment sentences, incorrect prepositions, and agreement errors, such as 'it make people very lazy' and 'u can check.' While communication is generally maintained despite these errors, the high frequency of inaccurate complex structures and mechanical issues prevents the response from achieving a higher band score, aligning best with Band 5 descriptors.
