Student answer (Band 5.0)

Supermarkets play an important role in the development of a society. Consumer can buy anything he wants from the supermarket. They usually provides all the stuff and things used in daily life from toilet papers to kitchen utensiles.

Most of the supermarkets sells international foods along with the traditional food like fruits and vegetables. A consumer can buy any kind of international food they want it is usually imported. They are served chilled or in sealed countainers.

Moreover, it has been now become a trend in supermarkets to sell international products to the local customer. This act increase the brand image of that supermarket and increase in sale in some cases. People are greatly impressed by these kind of product. And they build a courisity to try those products as soon as possible. this increase the sale of that store. For instance some stores sells international drinks like Redbull, Monster to attract the customer who are despirate to try these and they usually charge a lot in these products.

On the other hands, this strategy has many disadvantages to. like these products are shippied from vast distances and there is a high chance that they can spoil or can be damaged during the shipping if they are not kept properly.Another disadvantage may include the cost because the shipping cost adds to the cost of the product which increases its price. for example, the red bull is not manufrac turated in pakistan it is imported fro other countries and then sold for more than double of its price and it is expired more oftenly.

In conclusion, although it is a good way to increase sale but it may also effect the local product manufracturin.

g, and if it is served expired it can cause illness to the consumer

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the positive and negative aspects of global food availability in supermarkets. A clear position is established by the conclusion, although the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the writer mentions that international products increase sales and brand image, but this point is reiterated multiple times without much new elaboration. Similarly, the negative points regarding shipping costs, spoilage, and expiration are introduced but lack deeper extension. Examples such as Red Bull are provided to support the arguments, which brings some relevance to the task, but the overall depth aligns best with Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some overall organization with recognizable paragraph breaks and basic cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'On the other hands', and 'In conclusion'. However, the progression of ideas lacks smooth connectivity, and referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the pronoun shifts between singular and plural forms in the opening paragraph ('Consumer can buy... They usually provides'). Paragraphing is attempted, but paragraphs tend to contain run-on thoughts and abrupt transitions. Cohesive devices are occasionally inaccurate or mechanical, placing the performance securely at Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with frequent word-choice and spelling errors that strain the reader at times. Examples of inaccuracies include 'countainers', 'courisity', 'despirate', 'shippied', 'manufrac turated', and 'more oftenly'. While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'international', 'imported', and 'strategy', the high frequency of lexical and spelling errors means the vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures alongside a few attempts at complex sentences, which are frequently faulty. There are persistent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Consumer can buy', 'supermarkets sells', 'this act increase'), incorrect verb forms ('has been now become'), and punctuation errors. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from reaching a higher band score, representing a solid Band 5.0 performance.
