Student answer (Band 5.5)
In several countries nowadays, consumers can purchase food imported from all over the world by visiting a local supermarket. In my opinion, this is a highly positive development because it provides year-round access to out of season produce and enable people to experience diverse international cuisines.
First and foremost, supermarkets has increased variety and availability of food all the year. Mostly people visit supermarkets to purchase a range of different things, with the availability of food that comes from different parts of the world with different variety also attracts comsumers. Moreover, some people love to eat out of season fish and other vegetables that are not available in local markets also attracts those people towards supermarkets. For instance, whenever my parents wish to eat tuna fist and out of season vegetables, I have to bring them from a nearby superstore named as Imtiaz Mega.
Secondly, the availability of international food introduced consumer to diverse culinary cultures without requiring them to travel abroad. Supermarkets now store specialized international ingredients, ranging from tropical fruits to foreign spices and seafood. This allows home cooks and food enthusiasts to experiment with international spices and expand their daily diet. For example, in major super stores like Imtiaz Mega, shoppers can easily buy foreign ingredients like Japnese sushi, Saudi olive oil, and Thai curry making global cooking accessible to ordinary households.
In conclusion, global food accessibility in supermarkets is a positive development because it allows consumers to purchase out of season food all the year along with it allows people to experience different international cuisines.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by clearly stating a position that the global availability of food is a positive development. Main ideas are presented and supported with reasons and examples, such as the mention of 'Imtiaz Mega' and specific items like tuna and foreign ingredients. However, some of the ideas are slightly repetitive, and the support tends to rely on personal or localized examples rather than fully developed broader sociological or economic arguments. Nevertheless, a clear position is maintained throughout the essay. This performance aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors, as all parts of the task are addressed and relevant ideas are provided, though some are a bit under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay has a clear overall arrangement with a distinct introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, such as year-round availability and cultural exposure. Cohesive devices are used to signal progression, such as 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', and 'Secondly'. However, referencing and cohesion can occasionally feel mechanical or repetitive, and some sentences within the body paragraphs lack smooth transitions. For instance, the transition between sentences in the first body paragraph about out-of-season fish and vegetables feels slightly abrupt. Overall, the logical organization is clear enough to merit a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'out of season produce', 'diverse international cuisines', and 'culinary cultures'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, including 'enable' instead of 'enables', 'Mostly people' instead of 'Most people', 'comsumers' instead of 'consumers', 'tuna fist' instead of 'tuna fish', and 'super stores' instead of 'supermarkets'. While these errors do not impede communication, they reflect the limitations typical of a Band 6 level, where an adequate range is displayed alongside some inaccurate word choices and spelling slips.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses ('vegetables that are not available') and conditional or temporal clauses ('Whenever my parents wish to...'). However, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text. Subject-verb agreement issues are present, such as 'supermarkets has increased' instead of 'have increased', and 'vegetables... also attracts' instead of 'attract'. Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article omissions, such as 'introduced consumer' instead of 'introduced consumers'. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the message, placing the grammar firmly at the Band 6 level due to the mix of structures and persistent non-impeding errors.
