Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays consumers can go to a supermarket and buy food that have been produce all over the world, in many countries.

In my opinion it is a positive development as it help to expand the market and also help to minimize shortages.

Globalization have lead to international trade which create an oppurtunies for international market. International trades have help many business to find their own market as we know not all product is popular in one country. For instance, someone producing pots might not get enough profit in his home country as demand is less but if he/she try to sell his goods in another country where supply is less and demand is high he/she will get enourmous profits and find perfect market for their goods. Likewise a farmer is india do not get enough profits as demand for goods is less, so if that farmer sell his goods in country where agriculture is at bottom then farmer will earn more profit.

Similarly, with the help of international trades can counter a shortages of the country. Not every things go the way we planed so if a sudden drought hit a country then they will lack food sources and international trade will help in this situation. For instance, a manufacturing country had an accident in mines and the shortages of ores completely ruined the finance of the country but with international trades ores and necessary goods can be imported and it can also be regulated by the goverment to protects local business.

In conclusion, International trade is the best way for us to develope and help other nations. Therefore, I believe it is a positive development for all the country as it can be regulated according to country needs.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The student addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position that the availability of global food in supermarkets is a positive development. Ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as comparing a pot producer and an Indian farmer to illustrate the benefits of international trade for supply and demand. However, there is a tendency to over-generalise in parts, and some arguments regarding manufacturing and mining ores stray slightly from the core focus of food supermarkets, though they still relate broadly to global trade. Overall, all parts of the task are addressed with a clear position, fitting the criteria for Band 6.5 to 7.0, leaning towards a solid Band 6.0 due to slight tangential examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay demonstrates a clear overall progression with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'For instance', 'Similarly', and 'In conclusion' are used to connect ideas, though referencing and transitions can occasionally feel a bit mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, such as market expansion versus countering shortages. However, pronoun referencing and logical links between sentences occasionally falter, leading to minor disruptions in flow. This places the response comfortably at Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'enourmous', 'globilization', and 'regulated'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'produce' instead of 'produced', 'oppurtunies', 'enourmous', 'develope', and 'country' instead of 'countries'. While these vocabulary and spelling errors do not seriously impede communication, their frequency prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The lexical control aligns with a Band 5.5 to 6.0 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting conditional and relative structures (e.g., 'if that farmer sell his goods...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('food that have been produce', 'Globalization have lead', 'every things go', 'a farmer is india do not'). Punctuation is also inconsistent. Although these errors do not completely obscure the meaning, their frequency across the text keeps the grammar score at Band 5.0.
