Student answer (Band 6.0)
The modern era has allowed us access to the food which we can't produce locally. Today, it is very popular to go to a mart or a grocery store and find the food which has been imported from other countries. This advancement has shown wonderful results on our lives.
First of all, thanks to international trade through which a variety of food is accessible to countries which can't produce their own. By this I mean that the countries which do not have agricultural land are extremely at advantage because of this world wide trade of food. For example countries in the Middle East like Saudi Arab, Qatar etc. have very less agricultural land so they have to rely on neighboring countries to meet the food requirement for their citizens.
Secondly, countries which are rich in agriculture also get benefit from this. What I mean is that such countries have excess of agricultural land through which they produce rice, maze, barely, vegetables and different kind of fruits. These countries use this food to fulfill nutritional needs of their citizens and they export the excess quantity to other countries as well. For example Pakistan is the top exporter of rice to the Middle East.
However rising population in all over the world has caused severe shortages of food beyond the borders. This has limited the supply of food in both importing and exporting countries. Despite of these availability of all variety of food is ensured internationally.
All these reason show that availability of food internationally has been very beneficial in today's era. It has also grown economy of countries and fulfilled the nutrition needs of nations. In future the technology would be integrated in agricultural sector and would produce much more positive results.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the positive and negative aspects of global food availability, forming a clear position that it is a largely positive development. The writer successfully highlights benefits for importing countries, such as those in the Middle East with limited agricultural land, and exporting nations like Pakistan. Ideas are extended with relevant examples, such as mentioning Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Pakistan. Although the fourth paragraph introduces a counter-argument regarding rising population and food shortages, it ties back to international availability. The response covers all parts of the task well and maintains a clear position throughout, aligning closely with the Band 7 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct focus, beginning with an introduction, moving to benefits for importing nations, benefits for exporting nations, a counter-argument, and a concluding summary. Cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Secondly', and 'However' are used appropriately to signal transitions between ideas. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and effectively. However, some referencing and cohesive phrasing feel slightly mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'What I mean is that', which prevents the cohesion from reaching higher band levels.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate and generally appropriate for the task, with attempts at less common items such as 'international trade', 'agricultural land', 'nutritional needs', and 'exporter'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'wonderfull results on our lives' instead of 'wonderful impacts on our lives', 'very less agricultural land' instead of 'very little agricultural land', 'get benefit' instead of 'benefit', and 'grown economy' instead of 'grown the economies'. These minor errors and slightly repetitive lexical choices place the response firmly in the Band 6 category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures reasonably well (e.g., 'the countries which do not have agricultural land are extremely at advantage'). There are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings present, such as 'thanks to international trade through which a variety of food is accessible', 'Despite of these availability', and 'All these reason show'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, and while errors occur, they rarely impede communication. The control of grammar aligns well with Band 6 descriptors.
