Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response attempts to address the prompt regarding the global food trade, but misinterprets 'food produced all over the world' primarily as processed or convenience food rather than imported food items. While the writer takes a clear stance that this is a negative development due to health and lifestyle implications, the ideas are underdeveloped and repetitive. Furthermore, the length requirement of 250 words is not met, as the response contains only 234 words. This shortfall directly impacts the level of task completion and results in a lower band score.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response is organized into paragraphs with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is weak, and the connections between ideas are frequently disrupted by confusing phrasing, such as 'because of cooking consume more time'. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion is often faulty and mechanical. Referencing is unclear at times, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument smoothly. Overall, the structural framework lacks the cohesive devices and smooth transitions required for higher band levels.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently reusing terms like 'produced food' and 'health care problems'. There are noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'kitchen highly equipments', 'fry any spices', and 'pines' instead of pains. These lexical inaccuracies and limited range restrict the precision of the argument and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, aligning closely with the descriptors for a band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences with frequent structural errors. Examples of severe grammatical inaccuracies include 'people becomes laziness and not give time on there food consumption that effect after long run in there life' and 'everyday eating of produced food make many disease'. Punctuation and subject-verb agreement errors are pervasive throughout the text, frequently impeding communication and demonstrating weak control over basic syntactic forms.
