Student answer (Band 5.0)

In many countries nowadays , consumers can go to a superamarket and buy food products all over the world.

It is positive development because in many countries many supermarts their is a lot of things for consumers. There is no need to fly for some foods and drive hours for foods.

The supermartd can gives all kind of thing and foods which are need for comsumers. In supermarkets they should be export food from other countries .He have idea that the peoples are in serach of this kind of foods thats why imported food available in suoermarkets. for example USA has gives different types of food like Indian foods , pasta , and Pakistani dishes like Biryani and other civilization. there is advantage for consumers but the negative thing is when something could be imported from any country the fuel are used in large amount and the pollution is also spread. The atmosphere are also be effected.

in my opinion that is the good thing but they have many issues and face some trubles. It is good for consumers but not for farmers.

In conclusion, the availability of international food products in supermarkets is undeniably a positive development. While it may pose minor challenges to the local market, the benefits it brings in terms of unparalleled dietary variety, year-round access to nutrition, and stronger global economic ties far outweigh these concerns. Ultimately, this trend has enriched the consumer experience and successfully bridged cultural gaps through the universal language of food.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the positive and negative aspects of having international food products in supermarkets, presenting a clear position. However, there are significant issues regarding task fulfilment. Firstly, the word count requirement of 250 words was not met, as the response contains only 249 words, resulting in a necessary penalty under IELTS guidelines. Furthermore, the body paragraphs contain contradictory statements, shifting abruptly from arguing that international food is a positive development to highlighting pollution and disadvantages for farmers, before the conclusion oddly asserts that the benefits 'far outweigh these concerns' despite limited development. Ideas are sometimes repetitive and lack sufficient extension, restricting the score to Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

Coherence and cohesion suffer from structural and logical inconsistencies throughout the essay. While the student attempts to use paragraphs, the internal progression of ideas is frequently disrupted. For example, sentences such as 'In supermarkets they should be export food from other countries .He have idea that the peoples are in serach of this kind of foods' are disjointed and difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, leading to a mechanical and confusing flow. Referencing is also problematic, with unclear pronouns like 'He have idea' and 'the atmosphere are also be effected'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the abrupt shifts in topic within the body paragraphs prevent clear logical development, placing this aspect at a Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently impeded by spelling and word-choice errors. Examples of basic or erroneous terms include 'superamarket', 'supermarts', 'supermartd', and 'suoermarkets'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'undeniably', 'unprecedented dietary variety', and 'economic ties' in the conclusion, but these contrast sharply with the simpler and heavily flawed vocabulary of the main body. Word forms and collocations are often incorrect, such as 'the fuel are used in large amount' and 'the atmosphere are also be effected', which limits the lexical score to Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Grammatical control is weak, with a very limited range of structures and frequent errors that cause difficulty for the reader. Simple sentences predominate, and attempts at complex structures are generally faulty, such as 'when something could be imported from any country the fuel are used in large amount and the pollution is also spread.' Subject-verb agreement and article usage are problematic throughout the text, as seen in phrases like 'It is positive development', 'a lot of things', and 'the atmosphere are also be effected'. Punctuation is also erratic, with spaces incorrectly placed before commas and periods. These persistent errors restrict the performance to a Band 5.0.
