Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, its been very easy to purchase imported ietms from all over the world from a nearest supermarket. In my view, it is clearly a positive development without a shadow of doubt. These days people are not restricted to buy only local products as many countries can not produce all required items because of geographical and environmental factors.
Imports and exports have been strength of almost every region of the world, countries promot their food products and export it in the globe, that plays a significant role in the countries' economies. The geography of the world is very unique and versatile every region has its own value, some states are really good in agriculture but lack in technology, conversely, some countries are famous for healthcare products but weak in local food industry just because of their atmosphare and geographical position. Consequently many countries are unable to excel in food indutry of modern life where prople priorities their health and require organic food, sometimes it could be challenging for local governments to produce the required quantity of food, and due to the high demand food become expensive, so it is a positive development to export food items from outer regions to fullfill the demand and provide convenience to people.
Another major benefit of availability of imported food in local stores is people can have a variety of products and they can choose to buy according to their taste and budget. It provide locals the access of food they might tried in different country while traveling and they wanted to eat it again.
In conclusion, providing people acess to a variety of food from all over the world is a positive development. I believe its a win win situation for both the importers and exporters, countries who mainly relies on their agricultural industy can boost their economy and those who are not able to produce enough food can import and fulfill the demand that will reduce inflation. It also provide people a verstility of food and it diversify the options.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt directly, taking a clear stance that the global availability of food in supermarkets is a positive development. The writer supports this position with relevant arguments regarding geographical limitations, economic benefits of international trade, and consumer choice. For instance, the essay explains that some countries lack suitable agricultural conditions or technology, making imports necessary to meet organic food demands and prevent high prices. However, some ideas tend to over-generalise and lack fully extended supporting examples. For instance, the point about accessing food tasted during travel is mentioned briefly without further elaboration. Nonetheless, all parts of the task are addressed adequately, fulfilling the requirements for Band 6.5, rounded to 6.5.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a clear overall progression and logical organisation. The introduction establishes the topic and the writer's stance, followed by body paragraphs exploring economic and consumer-based benefits, and concluding with a summary of main points. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct themes. Cohesive devices are employed, such as "consequently," "another major benefit," and "in conclusion," though some linking is slightly mechanical or repetitive (e.g., frequent use of run-on sentences and comma splices rather than precise conjunctive adverbials). Referencing is generally clear, but occasional faulty cohesion keeps the response at a Band 6.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as "geographical and environmental factors," "atmosphare," and "diversify the options." However, there are noticeable spelling errors throughout the response, including "its been" (it's), "ietms," "promot," "indutry," "prople," "acess," "relies," and "verstility." While these lexical and orthographic errors do not seriously impede communication, they point directly to Band 6 descriptors where spelling and word-choice errors occur but meaning remains clear.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several punctuation errors and comma splices, such as in the sentence: "Imports and exports have been strength of almost every region of the world, countries promot their food products and export it in the globe, that plays a significant role in the countries' economies." Missing articles ("been strength", "in globe") and agreement issues ("prople priorities") frequently recur. Because errors in grammar and punctuation are noticeable and require some effort to decode at times, a Band 6 is appropriate.
