Student answer (Band 5.5)

These days consumers purchased eatable items made in different countries by visiting supermarkets. i think it is positive development it has advantages customer can check food expiry dates and freshness in real time.

On the one hand, visiting superstores to purchase food stuff can be benefial as customers can get their desire brand food and they can verify the freshness of eatable items along with their expiry dates. when buying online it is impossible to detect the freshness of foodstuff and many superstores sometimes deliever expired product with rule of no return policy but when customers go to physical stores they have privilege of full enquiry of food stuff before spending money. Additionally they also get many other alternatives for one product. For instance i went for frozen food shopping where my desire brand was missing but i get best alternative option which was quite new for me because i was not aware of that.

Furthermore, in case of dairy items physical visit is mandatory because when we order online consequence of that is spilling issues reported. Furthermore, many bakery items look quite appealing and fresh online but when we order what we get is totally different from original. Many customers for instance does not finf suitable option from where we get exactly similar product with best taste and no worries of rotten issues. Along with that they can save alot of money by purchasing cost effiicient best product. Lastly, it is a positive step towards healty lifestyle.

To conclude, visiting super-stores has advantage of getting fresh food also by saving alot of money which i think is difficult in online purchase. i agree that it is positive development by consumers to promote healthy lifestyle.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear positive position on the availability of global food produce in supermarkets. The writer develops ideas around the advantages of physical shopping, such as checking expiry dates, verifying freshness, and discovering alternative options. Examples are provided, such as going for frozen food shopping and finding new alternatives. However, some arguments are slightly repetitive, focusing heavily on comparing supermarkets to online shopping rather than strictly exploring the broader global food trade phenomenon. The main parts of the task are addressed, and a clear position is maintained throughout, fitting the Band 6 descriptor well.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The text has a coherent overall arrangement and attempts logical sequencing with cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Furthermore', and 'To conclude'. However, paragraphing is somewhat problematic; the introductory paragraph is severely underdeveloped, and the transition between ideas can feel mechanical or abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun shifts ('when we order... what we get... many customers for instance does not finf...'). Cohesive devices are sometimes overused or inaccurately applied, preventing the score from reaching a higher band. Overall, the organization is adequate to follow the writer's train of thought.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with attempts at less common items such as 'cost efficient', 'privilege', and 'mandatory'. However, there are frequent errors in word choice, collocation, and spelling throughout the text (e.g., 'eatable items', 'benefial', 'desire brand', 'deliever', 'healty'). Words are often misused in terms of form or context, such as 'rotten issues' or 'spilling issues'. While communication is generally maintained, these persistent lexical inaccuracies place the response firmly in the Band 5 category.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors including run-on sentences, missing capitalization and punctuation, subject-verb agreement issues ('many customers for instance does not finf'), and article omission. For instance, sentences like 'i think it is positive development it has advantages customer can check food expiry dates...' demonstrate a lack of control over basic clause boundaries. These errors frequently cause strain for the reader, aligning with the Band 5 descriptors.
