Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response attempts to address whether globalized supermarket food is positive or negative, but the ideas remain largely undeveloped, repetitive, and disjointed. The writer touches upon health and societal impacts, yet wanders into irrelevant personal anecdotes, such as mentioning 'My favourite place in paris supermarket live in wazirabad,' which fails to answer the core prompt. There is no clear, sustained position taken regarding the development. The examples provided, such as listing 'Burger, pizza, Fries, chicken, Meet, Cake, Bred,' are too simplistic and do not support a cohesive argument. This performance aligns with Band 4, as the response touches upon the task only minimally and lacks proper extension and task focus.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The overall organisation of the essay is weak. While the text is divided into three paragraphs, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by abrupt shifts in topic and repetitive phrasing, such as 'The main reasons... is important in our daily life.' Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, and referencing is often unclear, leaving the reader confused about how sentences connect. For instance, transitional phrases like 'Moreover' and 'In colcusion' are dropped in without genuine logical links to the preceding ideas. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion fails to guide the reader smoothly. This corresponds to a Band 4 descriptor where information and ideas are not arranged coherently.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, heavily relying on words like 'food,' 'purchase,' 'supermarket,' and 'important.' There are frequent spelling and word-choice errors, including 'dircet,' 'Meet' instead of meat, 'Bred' instead of bread, 'chioces,' 'colcusion,' 'togather,' and 'harmfull.' The student attempts to use some less common words, but incorrect collocations and lexical inaccuracies, such as 'clean foods way to the improve health,' heavily impede readability and strain the reader. This performance sits firmly at Band 4, showcasing basic and repetitive vocabulary with errors that frequently cause difficulty.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
Grammatically, the essay exhibits a very limited range of structures. Most complex sentence attempts are faulty, resulting in ungrammatical constructions and severe fragmentation, such as 'To begin with, there are several reasons consumers can go to a supermarket and purchase food is important in our daily life .' Basic subject-verb agreement and prepositional usage errors are pervasive throughout the text. Punctuation is also problematic, with spaces frequently misplaced before commas and periods. Because errors are frequent and often distort meaning, the writing falls short of Band 5, demonstrating characteristics typical of a Band 4 level where errors dominate.
