Student answer (Band 5.5)

Currently, in a wide range of countries a significant numbers of consumers visit supermarket and purchase food which produced in the worldwide. Nowadays, peoples all over the world get familiar with new kinds of taste and culture through various foods varieties. In this essay, I will explain how these foods have great positive and negative impact on the world.

One particularly important factor to consider is that a wide range of foods increase the knowledge in the people and people come across with new kind of culture and tradition which is very supportive to get familiar with other countries cultures. This can be explained by the fact that a significant numbers of people have knowledge about other traditions which is very helpful and supportive because they find them fascinating and learn more about them. One of the primary reason is that supermarket imports multiple kinds of food of different countries to gain popularity and earn reputation in the country. In this way, supermarkets earn great revenue and large number of consumers which is very beneficial for them. For example, this can be seen in the case of when other countries wants to produce and prevalent their food all over the world they sell their food items in a cheap price but after become well-known they earn a lot.

On the other hand, another important concern is that by promoting different foods all over the world may lead to misconception and medical treatment which is very demanding and inflated. This is largely because some people are not suited the foods and their ingredients which makes them unhealthy and physical unsecure. Ultimately, this may result in government spend a lot of money on public healthcare which is very expensive furthermore, people may set their mind negatively about other countries cultures. This can be illustrated by the health concern and medical treatment where people have spent time and money on medical cure, sometimes this may lead them towards the death or some serious dangerous diseases.

In conclusion, although yielding new food products is vey beneficial because it aware the people about traditions and culture about other countries but I believe that its better to stay concern about health because health is the main priority rather than other things.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the task partially, attempting to discuss both the positive and negative developments of consuming global food products. However, the position is not always clearly sustained, and the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on cultural awareness is repetitive and relies on general assertions rather than fully supported arguments, such as mentioning that 'people come across with new kind of culture' without giving a specific illustration. Similarly, the negative aspect concerning health is touched upon, but the explanation regarding 'medical treatment which is very demanding and inflated' lacks clarity and depth. To reach a higher standard, the ideas need to be extended with more specific examples and a more focused exploration of how global supermarkets impact society.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organization with a clear attempt at paragraphing, separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. However, the essay lacks a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on 'One particularly important factor to consider' and 'On the other hand'. Furthermore, referencing is not always clear, leading to confusing connections between sentences, as seen in the phrase 'this can be seen in the case of when other countries wants to produce and prevalent their food'. Paragraphing is present, but the internal flow of ideas within the paragraphs frequently falters due to awkward transitions and overused connective phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'fascinating', 'revenue', and 'misconception', but these attempts are often accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form. Examples of lexical inaccuracies include 'food which produced in the worldwide', 'food varieties', 'physical unsecure', and 'prevalent their food'. Additionally, there are awkward phrasings like 'stay concern about health', which cause some difficulty for the reader and impede the natural flow of ideas. A wider and more precise range of vocabulary, along with better control over word forms, is required to elevate the lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on basic sentences, while attempts at complex sentence forms are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader, particularly concerning subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'a significant numbers of consumers' and 'governments spend a lot of money'. Other notable structural issues include tense inconsistencies and incorrect prepositional patterns, such as 'are not suited the foods'. Punctuation is also problematic in places, resulting in run-on sentences like the conclusion. A greater variety of error-free complex structures and closer attention to basic grammatical rules are needed to improve this aspect.
