Student answer (Band 5.0)

In modern society, the rising demand of international food has led to a debate about wether consumers could visit the supermarkets and purchase global cuisine. Although it offers many challanges in a society as a whole, I firmly contend that it has certain positive developments in developing countries because of its significant role in economical development and peoples well-being.

To begin with, the production of global food in markets offers several advantages. The most important benefit is that it helps to increase the economy of many nations. More people would purchase cuisine that could lead to rise the economy of one's country. To illustrate this point, a market makes fingerfish which sale all over the world. More people would buy from shops. Ultimately, demand of this product will increase.

Subsequently, global meals promote people well being. They become comfortable by eating good quality diet. International dietry patterns significantly influence many people. For imstance, If residents get food of their choice and health, they will become more comfortable and enjoy their food which have great impact on their lives.

In conclusion, although local food become less common, global food plays a crucial role in human life and country's development. Therefore, I strongly believe that saling intetnational meals remain more effective than other cuisine in market.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the task only partially and the length requirement is not met, as the essay contains 214 words, which is 36 words short of the 250-word minimum. The writer takes a clear position, contending that global food has positive developments for developing countries. However, the ideas are limited and under-developed. For instance, the argument regarding economic development is supported by vague statements like 'a market makes fingerfish which sale all over the world', lacking sufficient elaboration or relevant examples. Similarly, the points about health and well-being remain superficial and are not fully extended. To reach a higher band, the writer must ensure the word count requirement is met and provide fully elaborated arguments with concrete, relevant supporting examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The writer uses basic cohesive devices to signal progression, such as 'To begin with', 'Subsequently', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, 'They become comfortable by eating good quality diet' lacks a smooth connection to the preceding sentence, and referencing pronouns like 'They' can occasionally cause slight ambiguity regarding whether they refer to people or diets. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to structure the text. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to ensure that cohesive devices are used more flexibly and naturally, and that the logical progression between sentences is smoother without relying on repetitive transitional phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The lexical resource is limited but minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'international food', 'global cuisine', and 'dietry patterns', but there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of lexical errors include 'wether' instead of 'whether', 'challanges' instead of 'challenges', 'economical development' instead of 'economic development', 'peoples well being' instead of 'people's well-being', 'fingerfish which sale' instead of 'for sale', and 'intetnational meals' instead of 'international meals'. To improve to a higher band, the writer must expand their vocabulary range and eliminate basic spelling and word-choice errors by proofreading carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer uses a limited range of structures, relying on a mix of simple sentences and occasional attempts at complex forms. However, attempts at complex sentences are often faulty, and there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement and article issues such as 'local food become less common' instead of 'becomes', 'peoples well being' omitting possessive markers, and awkward phrasing like 'foods which have great impact'. Additionally, capitalization and preposition usage show instability. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to demonstrate better control over complex sentence structures and significantly reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors.
