Student answer (Band 5.0)

Accross various parts of the world recently, buyers prefer now to purchase food in the supermarket, produced all over the world because it is more convenient to them.In my view,I strongle agree with this.

One reason is that, consumers find it more easier to find the goods that they needed at the store.Supermarket for instance, has a variety of choices such as fruits, vegetables and even basic needs of a person. It is more convenient for some shoppers as well because it is organized and easy to find what you want to buy. There is some cases, that some stores offers some discount and can save money. As a result, its more convenient to them to go to s supermarket.

Another reason, going to supermarket can also save time for some consumers because no need for you to travel just to find the specific product that you needed. For example, some imported goods that came from the other countries it will be easy for them to buy it without going to the specific country. However,in some cases there is a drawbacks of not patriotizing own products of the country that may affect the country's economy, because people prefer to buy food.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the task only partially and fails to meet the minimum length requirement, containing only 187 words instead of the required 250 words. While you present a clear position that you strongly agree with the development of buying global food in supermarkets, your ideas are quite limited and under-developed. For instance, you mention convenience and saving time, but these points are supported with very basic reasoning and repetitive explanations rather than fully extended arguments. The final paragraph briefly touches upon a drawback regarding the country's economy, but this is left underdeveloped and abrupt. To move up, you must write the full required word count and expand your supporting points with specific explanations and examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation with the use of paragraphs, but the response lacks clear overall progression. Your ideas are somewhat linked through transitional phrases such as "One reason is that" and "Another reason", but cohesive devices are frequently repetitive and sometimes inaccurate, as seen in "As a result, its more convenient to them to go to s supermarket." Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph abruptly combines benefits and drawbacks without proper logical separation or smooth transitions. To improve in this criterion, you need to ensure that every paragraph flows logically into the next and that a wider variety of cohesive devices are used accurately and naturally to guide the reader through your argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. You rely heavily on basic and repetitive words, such as "convenient", "find", and "buy". There are also noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, including spelling mistakes like "Accross", spacing errors such as "strongle", and unnatural collocations like "patriotizing own products". These errors and the restricted range mean the vocabulary remains at a basic level. To achieve a higher band, you should incorporate a wider and more flexible range of less common lexical items, ensuring precise word choice, correct word forms, and accurate spelling throughout your response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences and basic complex forms that are often faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause some difficulty for the reader, such as comma splices and missing articles, exemplified by "Supermarket for instance, has a variety of choices" and "there is a drawbacks". You also struggle with subject-verb agreement and prepositional phrases inside grammatical patterns, such as "some imported goods that came from the other countries it will be easy for them". To improve, you need to increase your control over complex sentence patterns and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors.
