Student answer (Band 5.0)

Consumtion of produced food is increasing significantly in recent time. It is getting popular in modern life. From my perspective there are more positive than the negative impact of local supermarket in society and human development.

Buying food from all over the world at local supermarkets is a positive development because it gives people more choices, year-round access to fresh produce, and a chance to experience different cultures. people can explore different types of unique fruties and vegitable that are not available in our country or variety of spices in local supermarket.Trying foods from other nations lets people explore global culture and traditions. For example, nowadays, stawberries are more available in the local super market which makes people curious to test the flavour and interest them to grow in the home garden.

On the other hand, the negative development primarily can be due to environmental damage, and harm to local farmers. Firstly.Transporting food via planes, ships, and trucks burns large amounts of fossil fuels which increase green house gasses espically carbon in the air. . it causes severe and widespread negative impacts on the earth's weather, ecosystems, and human societies by increasing global warming. secondly,Local Farmers

faces unfair competition. Imported goods are often cheaper, making it hard for domestic farmers to compete in local market. It also increase income loss of local business people and farmers. Reduced demand for locally grown produce hurts farmers' livelihoods and weakens regional economies.

overall, it can be seen that everything have both positive and negative impact on society and human development. balance between both can create a feverable environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the task partially by presenting both positive and negative aspects of buying food produced all over the world, but the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on positive impacts mentions choices and cultural exploration, while the negative section touches on environmental damage and local farmers, yet these points lack sufficient extension or detailed support. Although a position is stated in the introduction, the conclusion merely generalises rather than clearly reinforcing the stance. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to fully extend and support each main idea with relevant explanations and examples rather than relying on brief, generalised assertions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation with distinct paragraphs, but the response lacks a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as abrupt transitions ('Firstly.Transporting food...', 'secondly,Local Farmers faces', and 'overall, it can be seen') that make the flow mechanical. Referencing and paragraph linking are also occasionally unclear, leading to a choppy structure. To improve Coherence and Cohesion, the writer should use a wider variety of appropriate cohesive devices smoothly and ensure that each paragraph builds logically upon the previous one with clear progression of thought.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited but minimally adequate for discussing the topic, featuring noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word forms that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of these inaccuracies include 'Consumtion', 'fruties', 'vegitable', 'stawberries', and 'feverable'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'livelihoods' and 'fossil fuels', but these are offset by frequent lexical slips. To move up to the next band, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, improve spelling accuracy, and demonstrate better control over word choice and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple or basic complex forms. Attempts at more complex sentences often contain faulty grammar, punctuation, and agreement errors. Notable issues include subject-verb agreement errors ('Local Farmers faces'), missing articles ('in local market'), incorrect capitalization, and punctuation flaws such as double periods and missing spaces ('air. . it causes'). These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to incorporate a wider variety of complex structures with greater grammatical accuracy and polish punctuation habits.
