Student answer (Band 5.5)
The statement refects that consumers can go to a supermarket and buy food produced all over the world, i strongly believe that it is a positive development.
On the one hand, this development has large number of benifits such as buyers can buy anything they wants, they get all food product in a single place, products are serially arranged sections wise so customers can easy access what they wants. For example, before the development of supermarket buyers went to separate market to purchase different products as a result they had to pay more transportation cost as well as they face time management difficulties. Whereas, now they can save both time and money by using the supermarket.
On the other hand, the development of supermarket has some disadvantages too. Generally, the product price is little higher at supermarket because of their high facilites, mangement, advance payment method. Moreover, sometimes the supermarket get crowded when the declare any discount offer. For example, in the time of sales the workers of the supermarket faces to much work load that they face difficulties in management and distribusion.
In conclusions, there are many advantages compared to disadvantages thats why i think this is a positive development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task partially, as it attempts to discuss the positive and negative developments of global food availability in supermarkets. However, your position is presented simplistically and lacks full development. Furthermore, the length requirement is NOT met, as the response contains only 201 words, falling significantly short of the 250-word minimum. The ideas regarding benefits, such as variety and convenience, and drawbacks, such as higher prices and crowding during sales, are limited and remain under-developed without sufficient supporting depth. To reach higher bands, you need to extend your arguments more thoroughly and fully satisfy the minimum word count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at paragraphing, separating your introduction, advantages, disadvantages, and conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusions' to structure the response. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes mechanical, and referencing is not always clear, such as the ambiguous pronoun use in 'when the declare any discount offer'. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to divide the main themes, but the overall cohesion relies on repetitive and formulaic transitions rather than flexible, varied cohesive tools. To improve further, you should integrate cohesive devices more smoothly and ensure logical progression between sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is limited but minimally adequate for the task. You attempt some less common items related to shopping and supermarkets, such as 'transportation cost', 'management', and 'discount offer', but there are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty. Examples of lexical slips include 'refects' instead of 'reflects', 'benifits' instead of 'benefits', 'serially arranged sections wise', and 'distribusion' instead of 'distribution'. To achieve a higher band, you need to expand your lexical range, improve spelling accuracy, and use more precise collocations appropriate for an academic context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You demonstrate a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside a few faulty attempts at complex forms. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'the supermarket get crowded', pronoun errors such as 'the workers... faces to much work load', and punctuation or capitalization mistakes like starting the personal pronoun 'i' in lower case. These errors require some effort for the reader to interpret. To move up to the next band, you need to produce a better mix of error-free sentences, improve your control over verb forms and plurals, and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical slips.
