Student answer (Band 6.0)

Today in most of the countries,it is common for consumers to take food products from supermarket that produces all over the world. In my opinion, this is largely positive development ,Although it has some drawbacks.

One of the positive side, this trend gives consumers more variety nd choice.People are longer available for local seasonal foods. For example ,In pakistan we can now buy avocados from Mexico or kiwis from New Zealand in winter which was impossible from ten years ago. This can improves nutritions because people eat different type os vitamins all the year. It also help people from other countries living abroad. For intance,an Asian student in the UK can easiky ind rice ,spices and mangoes from his home country.

furtgermore, it support the global economy. When we buy foods from other countries, farmers on those country earn money.Countries can focus on what they grow best and export it,like pakistan exports mangoes and rice.

however, ther are some negative effects.First, imported food is often expensive due to transport cost and it is not a fresh food as local food.Secondly, transporting food over long distances causes pollution from aeroplanes and trucks, which harms the environment. Finally it can damage local farmer.

In conclusion, although importing food from all over the world has some environmental and economical disadvantages,I believe that benefits of greate choice, better nutrition and cultral diversity outweigh the negative.Govenment should encourage local farming but also allow imports in a balanced way

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position that the development is largely positive, supported by relevant ideas concerning variety, nutrition, and the global economy, while also acknowledging negative effects such as pollution and cost. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others; for instance, the point about supporting local farmers is introduced briefly in the body paragraphs and conclusion without sufficient extension. Furthermore, it is important to note that the response falls short of the minimum length requirement, containing only 229 words instead of the required 250 words. To reach a higher band, you must ensure you write at least the minimum word count and fully develop every main idea with deeper explanations and examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

Your essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance stated in the introduction and reinforced in the conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct points, such as positive aspects, negative aspects, and the final summary. You make use of various cohesive devices to guide the reader, including 'One of the positive side', 'furtgermore', and 'however'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes mechanical or faulty, and there are occasional errors in paragraph transitions and punctuation around cohesive markers. To move into the higher bands, you should refine your use of cohesive devices so they flow more naturally and ensure your progression of ideas is consistently smooth throughout every paragraph.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You display an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items and specific topics such as 'global economy', 'seasonal foods', and 'cultural diversity'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that occasionally occur, such as 'nd' instead of 'and', 'nutritions' instead of 'nutrition', 'cultral' instead of 'cultural', and 'Govenment' instead of 'Government'. Additionally, some collocations and word forms are imprecise, such as 'takes food products... that produces all over the world'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, placing your lexical resource at this level. To achieve a higher band, you need to expand your range of less-common vocabulary, use collocations more naturally, and eliminate spelling mistakes through careful proofreading.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

Your writing exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at relative clauses and conditional ideas. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing articles ('due to transport cost'), punctuation and spacing issues ('countries,it', 'development ,Although'), subject-verb agreement issues, and prepositional errors ('from ten years ago' instead of 'ten years ago'). Fortunately, these errors rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear. To reach a higher band, you need to increase your range of error-free complex structures and pay closer attention to punctuation, articles, and prepositions to ensure greater grammatical accuracy across the entire essay.
