Student answer (Band 5.5)

Currently in most of the countries, the food which is manufactured all over the world is available to the customers at the supermarket. In my view i believe that this is very important and the positive development because it reduces the hustle of the shopping and it is very convinent for the purchaser to buy the international stuff to make things reliable.

To begin with, the food variety has been increased in the supermarket becase they are selling the food products which are not availabe is there country or region. This reduces the stress of the customer and it has made things more reliable for them to not worry about the hustle of travelling across the countries to buy things they want to eat.Such as, once i visited a shopping mall and i was amazed by looking to the dates because they are originated from Saudia Arabia. So, to me it is a good development.

Furthermore, In modern age there is also a postive aspect of it of connecting the world trade and people together because the people get aware of the trends and kinds of food being eaten by the people of the other countries. For example, different countries import food among them it keeps both their relationships and economy healthy.

To conclude with that, the worldwide manufactured food is being sold in supermarket under one roof this a very good improvement because this is easy for the customer not move or travel across the borders to purchase their required food.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position that the availability of global food in supermarkets is a positive development. However, the ideas remain limited and under-developed, which keeps the task response at this level. While the writer mentions convenience and international trade, these points are supported with superficial explanations and brief, personal examples rather than extended reasoning. For instance, the example about dates from Saudi Arabia simply notes amazement rather than exploring the broader economic or cultural implications. To move to a higher band, the writer would need to fully develop their main arguments with deeper explanations and more comprehensive real-world examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing basic organisation. Paragraphing is attempted, and the response uses some basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'To conclude with that' to signal the direction of the text. However, referencing is sometimes unclear, and cohesive devices can feel mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on 'hustle' and filler phrases. There is a lack of smooth progression between certain ideas, resulting in a somewhat choppy flow. To achieve a higher band, the writer must ensure that cohesive devices are used more flexibly and naturally, and that the logical relationship between sentences is strengthened.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their general perspective. There are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word formation that cause some difficulty for the reader, such as 'manufactured' instead of 'grown' or 'produced', 'hustle of the shopping', and 'convinent' (spelling). The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'originated' and 'international stuff', but inappropriate collocations and awkward phrasing frequently surface. To reach the next band, the student should expand their range of vocabulary, focus on accurate spelling, and learn the correct collocations associated with international trade and food production.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text displays a limited range of structures, relying primarily on simple sentences alongside a few attempts at complex forms that are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the response, including issues with articles ('the food which is manufactured', 'in their country'), prepositions ('looking to the dates'), and subject-verb agreement or redundancy (such as 'In my view i believe'). These errors require the reader to occasionally pause to decipher the intended meaning. To progress further, the writer needs to increase the variety of complex sentence structures they use while exercising much tighter control over basic grammatical rules, punctuation, and tense consistency.
