Student answer (Band 5.0)
In many countries nowdays, consumers can go to a super market and buy food produced all over the world. we are living in modern age where getting basics of our life is very easy. World is a global village. The supermarket bussiness is spread all over the world every country have a range of supermarkets providing the food produced all over the world. Consumers living in the developed countries have an easy access to the basics items of their life. For example if a person wants to get a certain food item he can easily get it through the super market. in my openion this is one of the positive developement of most of thecountries for their consumers.
Through this developement the import and export of countries progressed. This development brings huge bussiness and job oppurtunities in the country. Every country produce different food products for their consumers. Sometimes we need to move from one country to another country for job education or tourism purposes. If a consumer is travelling from one country to another country then he do not need to be worried about the food availability in that country because nowadays the supermarkets are providing food products from all over the world.
Food can be easily prepared and stored to be used latter. some countries are unable to produce certain food products in their own country due to certain limitations i.e. poor land condition, weather conditions not good for crops and less irrigated land. These countries import those particular products from other countries which can easily produce those products in their country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the task partially, providing a basic position that buying imported food is a positive development. However, the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the writer mentions that the supermarket business spreads globally and that import-export progresses, but these points are stated rather than extended with specific, detailed reasoning or fully realised examples. The reference to travellers not needing to worry about food availability is a relevant thought, but it is not expanded to explore wider economic or social implications. Furthermore, note that eight words copied directly from the prompt were not counted toward the minimum length requirement. To reach higher bands, the writer must ensure every main idea is thoroughly elaborated with substantial explanations and concrete supporting details.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response displays some overall organisation, but there is no clear progression throughout the text. The paragraphs tend to group random thoughts together without a unified central topic. For example, the final paragraph leaps abruptly from food storage and preparation to agricultural limitations and importation without a smooth transition. Cohesive devices are used minimally or inaccurately; the writing relies on repetitive sentence starters and simple conjunctions rather than sophisticated referencing. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal flow within paragraphs is disjointed. To achieve a more coherent structure, the writer needs to logically sequence ideas, ensure clear referencing relationships between sentences, and use a wider variety of cohesive ties to guide the reader seamlessly from one point to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The lexical range is limited and minimally adequate for addressing the prompt. The vocabulary used is quite basic and repetitive, featuring frequent misspellings and word-choice errors, such as 'nowdays', 'super market', 'bussiness', 'openion', 'developement', 'oppurtunities', and 'latter'. These errors are noticeable and occasionally cause slight difficulty for the reader. The writer attempts a few slightly less common items, such as 'import and export' and 'agricultural limitations', but these are undermined by mechanical inaccuracies. To improve in this area, the writer must expand their working vocabulary, learn correct word spellings, and focus on precise word choices and collocations that fit academic contexts naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences joined by basic coordinating conjunctions. When the writer attempts more complex structures, they are often faulty, featuring frequent errors in punctuation, capitalization, articles, and subject-verb agreement. Examples include missing capital letters at the beginnings of sentences like 'we are living', incorrect articles such as 'in most of thecountries', and run-on structures or fused clauses. These frequent errors cause strain and difficulty for the reader. To progress, the writer needs to practise forming complex sentences accurately, paying close attention to punctuation boundaries, verb forms, and grammatical agreements across a wider variety of sentence patterns.
