Student answer (Band 6.5)

In this contemporary era, Due to increasing trades among different nations, customers can buy food products from all over the world in the local market. This approach has many beneficial outcomes.

To begin with, Every origin has distinct weather conditions. Because of this they are not able to grow all vegetables and fruits. For instance, during extreme winter crops such as tomatoes and watermelons can not be grown because weather is not suitable for them. These kinds of food need appropriate temperature to grow according to their structure. Therefore, availability of these food products in the supermarket across the globe is good for local residents as they can fulfill their needs. Moreover, a growing number of individuals are migrating to other countries for better opportunities. Over there they do not need to change their diet because almost all supermarkets have supply of imported food. For example, in western countries asian people can easily buy their local food products such as vegetables and milk-based products.

In addition to this, This approach may help government authorities in terms of income revenue. When individuals buy a foodstuffs on a large scale, it generates income revenue in terms of tax for the governments. These money can be used for essential sectors such as road infrastructure , medical care to improve overall quality of human life.

In conclusion, although this trend may brings some challenges for local food businesses, its drawbacks are overshadowed by its benefits. Hence both citizens and governments can take advantage of this.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the task, presenting a clear position that the global availability of food is a positive development. Main ideas are extended and supported, such as explaining how different weather conditions prevent certain countries from growing specific crops and how migration creates a demand for familiar food items. However, there is a slight tendency to over-generalise in parts, such as claiming that 'almost all supermarkets have supply of imported food', which prevents the response from reaching a higher band. The main ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, with examples from general knowledge effectively woven into the body paragraphs to justify the writer's perspective.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The text presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from introducing the topic, through two distinct supporting arguments about climate and migration, to a discussion of government revenue, and finally a reasoned conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, with each paragraph having a distinct central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'In addition to this' are utilised to connect ideas, though referencing and cohesion can occasionally feel somewhat mechanical. For instance, transitional phrases are sometimes followed by unnecessary capitalisation errors like 'Every origin' or 'This approach may help government authorities in terms of income revenue, in addition to this, This approach', showing signs of slightly faulty or repetitive linking mechanics that prevent a higher rating.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'contemporary era', 'distinct weather conditions', and 'infrastructure'. However, there are noticeable word-choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as writing 'trades' instead of 'trade', 'income revenue' which is slightly redundant, and 'a foodstuffs' where the article does not fit the plural or uncountable nature of the noun. Spelling is generally accurate, but some lexical slips persist, such as 'brings' instead of 'bring' in the conclusion. These vocabulary errors do not impede communication, allowing the reader to easily follow the argument, which firmly places the lexical performance at this level while reflecting the characteristics of the next higher band beginning to emerge through the use of topical terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional-style reasoning effectively. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as capitalization issues ('Every origin', 'This approach'), missing articles or incorrect pluralisation ('crops such as tomatoes and watermelons can not be grown because weather is not suitable', 'These money can be used'), and punctuation errors like a comma splice in the concluding paragraph. However, these errors rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear throughout. The student shows good control over basic sentence structures while attempting more complex arrangements, though frequent minor slips in agreement, articles, and punctuation keep the grammatical performance within this band.
