It has been widely acknowledged, that people are keen to buy the food items produced by other countries. This trend is growing on rapid scale from the last few decades. The reasons behind this surge are hidden behind the innovations of technology, global trade and advertisements. Moreover, human beings doesn't had so many options in the past. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether the availability of global food in supermarkets is a positive or negative development, expressing a clear position that it is positive in the final paragraph. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat limited and under-developed. While reasons such as technology and global trade are mentioned, they are not fully explained or extended with strong, specific arguments. For instance, the reference to boosting trade and exposing cultures is stated briefly without detailed exploration. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to present a more fully developed position throughout the essay, extending each supporting idea with deeper analysis and clearer examples rather than relying on brief assertions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement and attempts a logical progression of ideas from causes to historical background and finally to the writer's opinion. However, the organization suffers from issues such as overly short, fragmented paragraphs and repetitive transitions. For example, the third paragraph consists of a single sentence that awkwardly merges a personal stance with a list of benefits. Furthermore, referencing and cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or inadequate, as seen in the abrupt shifts between sentences in the first paragraph. To improve Coherence and Cohesion, the writer should ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence, logical internal progression, and smoother cohesive links between sentences and ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items and specific food examples such as 'processed food items', 'Greek yogurt', and 'Italian breads'. However, there are noticeable vocabulary and word choice inaccuracies that prevent the score from being higher, such as 'growing on rapid scale' instead of 'at a rapid scale', 'on a immense scale' instead of 'on an immense scale', and the misuse of 'adds' instead of 'ads' or 'advertisements'. Despite these occasional errors in word choice and spelling, communication is generally not impeded, and the vocabulary remains minimally sufficient to convey the intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple or awkwardly constructed complex forms. There are frequent grammatical errors that cause some difficulty for the reader, particularly concerning subject-verb agreement, auxiliary verbs, and prepositions. Examples of these errors include 'human beings doesn't had so many options', 'incorporating in every commercial breaks, tend to', and 'serving providing people different tastes'. Punctuation is also problematic, such as the unnecessary comma in the opening sentence ('It has been widely acknowledged, that...'). To achieve a higher band, the writer must reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors and demonstrate better control over complex sentence patterns and verb tenses.
