Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, international food is avaliable in supermarket and people can buy easily in many regions. I believe that this is a positive development because individuals can access to international cuisine without traveling to their countries. Moreover, people get to know about cultures and traditions of different countries. In this essay, i will discuss the reasons behind this view before reaching a conclusion.

Firsly, In my opinion it is a advantage for people can go to a supermarket and purchase food produced all over the world as they can taste different regions food without moving there. For instance, in the early years, rice is only cultivated in the Asian countries and the Asian people ate it as their daily cuisine but now rice is avaliable in a every international store. Therefore, this development make it easy for people to access and taste varied areas food.

Moreover, I think that by this development people can get to know about cultures and traditions of distant countries. Many people make and eat food on their special occasions. For instance, muslim people eat date before breaking their fast. This is their tradition. Consequently, dates are avaliable in almost every area's market. When muslim individuals buy it in month of ramadan, their peers and fellows get to know about their tradition.

In a nutshell, from my perspective, this is a positive development for consumers can purchase food produced internationally as people can experience many countries dishes and develop knowledge about their cultures and traditions. These are the reasons behind this .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position that global food availability in supermarkets is a positive development. Main ideas are introduced, such as experiencing international cuisine without traveling and learning about different cultures and traditions. However, some ideas are under-developed or supported with limited explanation. For instance, the example regarding Muslim traditions and dates is somewhat simplistic and does not fully explore the broader socioeconomic or cultural implications of globalized food markets. Nevertheless, the main thesis is maintained throughout the essay and the conclusion suitably summarizes the core arguments, fulfilling the requirements for this level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs focusing on distinct supporting points, and a brief conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or repetitive, utilizing basic cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'For instance', and 'Consequently'. Additionally, referencing and transitional links can feel slightly rigid, such as in the opening sentences of the body paragraphs. While the logical progression of ideas is visible, these minor flaws in cohesive management prevent a higher evaluation in this category.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their ideas about international food and cultural awareness. There are several spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'avaliable' (available), 'Firsly', and awkward phrases like 'taste different regions food'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items, including 'cultivated', 'traditions', and 'cuisine', but inaccuracy in spelling and collocation is noticeable. Despite these lapses, the vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the message without heavily impeding the reader's understanding.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, such as 'I believe that this is a positive development because individuals can access to international cuisine without traveling to their countries.' There are several grammar errors present, including preposition misuse ('access to' instead of 'access', 'in a every'), article omission, and issues with subject-verb agreement or clause structures. Punctuation errors also appear, such as lowercase 'i'. However, these errors are relatively sparse and rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the intended meaning comfortably.
