Student answer (Band 4.5)

Advancement in technology has made our lives easier. in developed countries consumers can go to supermarket and buy food produced all over the world. In my view it is positive development.

one main reason is that if we have craving for such food item we do not have to travel to such specific place to eat such food. we can taste different culture foods and enjoy their culture. its gives us feel of united. An other reason is that it gives economy growth.

it can be positive we have to go just super market to do grocery and buy any food that is produced in any part of world . different types of food item for eating keeps us happy. At certain time and certain place we can enjoy food produced all over the world and it also give us motivation to visit such that where the food item comes .It also gives to economy growth. it can be negative development in such most of tie they preserved

food with chemicals to maintain them fresh which is very dangerous for our body and causes many health issues . Sometimes supermarket sells them on high rates if a particular things are demand. so we have to wait to get them on sale.

In conclusion, its has more positive advantages than negative development. we can buy all kind of food items from particular superstore .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task partially. A position is presented indicating that global food availability is a positive development, but the ideas are limited and under-developed, relying on simple repetition. For instance, the point regarding economic growth is mentioned twice without further expansion. Additionally, 9 words copied from the task prompt were not counted, and the length requirement is NOT met as the response contains only 224 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to fully develop all parts of the task with well-supported arguments and meet the minimum word count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is some organisation, but information and ideas are not arranged coherently with a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is faulty and poorly structured, with a lack of clear topical divisions. Cohesive devices are inadequate or repetitive, leading to a disjointed flow where referencing is not always clear, such as the abrupt transitions between the positive and negative aspects. To improve, the writer must ensure logical sequencing, introduce clear paragraph breaks, and employ a variety of appropriate cohesive devices to guide the reader smoothly through the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task. The writer relies on basic, repetitive terms such as 'food', 'culture', and 'supermarket', and makes noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'super market', 'items' lacking agreement, and 'high rates' instead of 'high prices'. These lexical shortcomings reflect a basic range. To achieve a higher score, the student should incorporate a wider variety of less common lexical items, demonstrate better control over word collocation, and ensure correct spelling and word forms throughout the essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response displays a limited range of structures, consisting mostly of simple sentences. Attempts at complex sentences are often faulty, and there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include missing articles ('gives economy growth', 'its gives us feel of united'), punctuation omissions like lowercase beginnings of sentences after periods, and subject-verb agreement issues. To progress, the writer needs to demonstrate a greater variety of complex sentence forms with improved control over punctuation, articles, and grammatical accuracy.
