Student answer (Band 4.0)
In contemproray age, consumers from different countries can purchase food produced all over the globe due to globalization. Although this development has some disadvantage, I believe that is a positive development because it provides choice to the cosumers and allow them to access food throughout the year.
The main advantage of this development is that it allows consumers a variety of choices in food. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response is severely limited by its length, falling well short of the 250-word minimum requirement at only 98 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed, leading to an underdeveloped position. While you state a clear stance that global food availability is a positive development and attempt to introduce supporting points regarding consumer choice and year-round access, the ideas are cut off abruptly before they can be fully extended or supported with adequate examples. To achieve a higher band, you must ensure you write at least 250 words, allowing yourself enough space to fully develop your main ideas with detailed explanations and complete, relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some basic organisation in the text, with an introductory paragraph stating your position and the beginning of a body paragraph. However, because the text stops mid-sentence, there is no clear overall progression or complete structure. Basic cohesive devices are attempted, such as 'Although' and 'For example', but referencing and logical flow are interrupted by the abrupt ending and lack of supporting paragraphs. To improve, you need to structure your essay into a clear introduction, at least two fully developed body paragraphs, and a conclusion, using cohesive devices smoothly to connect your thoughts from sentence to sentence and paragraph to paragraph.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
Your vocabulary range is limited but minimally adequate to express basic ideas on the topic. You make noticeable spelling and word-form errors, such as writing 'contemproray' instead of 'contemporary', misspelling 'consumers' as 'cosumers', and using 'allow' where 'allows' is required. Other lexical slips include 'others country cuisine'. These errors and spelling mistakes cause some distraction for the reader. To move to a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary with greater precision, learn correct word forms, and carefully proofread your writing to eliminate basic spelling errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The text shows a limited range of sentence structures, and your attempts at complex sentences contain frequent errors. For instance, the phrase 'allow them to access' lacks proper subject-verb agreement with its antecedent, and the sentence 'People can experience different kind of foods' has a plural noun agreement error ('kinds'). Punctuation and article usage also need closer attention. These frequent errors can occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate a wider mix of error-free complex structures, ensuring correct verb tenses, agreements, and singular/plural noun forms throughout your writing.
